It’s been interesting observing the robust — and at times, fiery— debate within the right about US immigration policy over the past week.

This is the sort of public debate the US desperately needs. And it’s one that could never happen on the left, because everyone on the left has to be in lockstep on every single issue of importance. Groupthink is the fundamental premise that underpins their entire movement.
