Seems we are starting to have real issues fitting players back in. This feels like a good sign

We also at some stage need to fit in Day, CJ and wingard(maybe) and we are already wondering how Mitchell, Huss and Finn get into the 22. I think we all want them in but all acknowledge who comes out is problematic.

If we look at glass half full, one more year with another 3 or 4 ready to go recruits and we are nearly back baby.

I'm happy for D'Ambrosio to play permanent wing. We need his kicking I50. A must.
It’s an interesting selection challenge. Weddle looks better up the ground (outside d50), Croc played well on wing (and with Moore and ginnivan as high hf less room for him up forward), Ward hasn’t cemented an inside mid role so looks set for wing etc.

I actually think Amon is our best winger. Being played out of position at present.

I think I have a solution for our problem of having a glut of players who excel playing on the wing:

We play 6 blokes on the wings!

he is probably our best winger but he's also an extremely effective HBF. we cut the Dons up on transition from there, even while our mids got pummelled in the centre. having even inside 50s while losing CBAs as handily as we did is a testament to the offensive success of our back half. not to mention he's had career-best stats in the position, so in terms of personal performance he is not being played out position.

if the concern is his defensive work, well, every team is loaded up with 3-4 of these HBFs that "can't defend". it's how the game is played now. the onus there is on coaching to ensure the balance is right. it wasn't 100% right vs Essendon but our mids were clearly the bigger issue.

Amon also averaged almost the exact same number of inside 50s after the shift to the back half in 2023 than in the first half as a winger, so you're not really losing his delivery to our forwards either.

Interesting to see what they do with selection. Pretty disappointed they went with Finn as the sub in the end, that’s poor from those involved there.

If they bring in Finn and Phillips I’m not sure who goes out, Mackenzie and Watson?

I really want the CBAs of Ward and MacDonald to keep increasing. Nash would be the one in danger of slipping out, although he has a few runs on the board of course

For mine the team needs a tougher edge this week against the Dees. Best way to achieve that? Hustwaite comes in for Mackenzie. Finn gets in someone’s face from the opening bounce. Watson possibly sits out, Hardwick moves forward and Seamus comes into defence. And Nash and Newcombe harden the fk up.

Told a mate who is a solid Demon fan that I was looking forward to the game it should be a close thing. He totally wrote us off, had gone hard at the Melbourne grand final win for $9. WTF!
I think he’s dreaming.
I think we will bounce back.
I think if the learning curve from the Bombers game is step enough we could nick this one.

I think this is currently our hardest match up until round 10 v Port in SA.

I think we can win if as many things go right for us as they went wrong last week. More specifically: kick the goals, don't let them have easy centre clearances, and Sicily to only be aggressive in returning to form.

I’d like to see MacDonald get some centre bounce attendances, understand we have a fair contingent of midfielders now but it feels like he could be a really damaging coming out of the centre
I am keen to see him in there as well, but we need to ensure we have the right mix from a defensive point of view. I absolutely do not want to see the ball walked out of the centre for goals like last week and currently I don't see Croc offering a lot defensively through the middle.

I agree the mix is the most important part, you need to be able to attack as well. The balance I see is unless your going ultra defensive you have a first possession tap to player,
One attacker and a sweeper/tagger. I think it was the second quarter last week where worpel got a stack of first touches but it didn’t amount to much out of the center. Id just like to see it as a different look.

The few he got last week, he looked completely lost in there

Head says Dee’s comfortably.

Heart says Hawks by 12 with Ginni kicking the sealer, causing Hawks fans to chant in unison:

We’re getting home on the back of a Ginni-Van! We’re getting home on the back of a Ginni-Van!

We're all going home in the back of a ginni-van. Hahahaha first time ive heard it, love it :)

David King thinks we could go goal-less for a half against the Dees. I agree with a fair bit of what Kingy says but this is just nonsense.

I am not sure we will get the Win but what I want to see is a real combative and fierce performance.

Dont let their mids get first crack at the footy so much like last week.

Need to show grunt and desire week in and week out.

Kingy is a gun but he has let himself down there. To be fair the show is called “give me something”.
