Are you insinuating that Ralph will wreck it for us?

Give the man some credit, he made the best of a very bad situation last year. We turned Sheezel (who we would have taken with pick 1) into Sheezel, Wardlaw, Pick 14 and them some. We dropped down one spot in the draft and lost a talented but petulant down hill skier. What more did you want from the trade? FFS.

We traded 1 and 1 for 2,3 and 14 that is pathetic.

The guy is hopeless he constantly gets out negotiated.

He does however do ok at trading on draft night.

I'd hang Brady Rawlings for many crimes against list management.

That however, would not be one of them.

Would you however not knowing who the players are trade 2 pick 1s for 2,3 and 14

We knew who the players would be. We knew would be getting number 1 and 2 in our draft order.

We traded JHF and Sheezel for Sheezel, Wardlaw and pick 14. With JHF having compromised value due to his attitude problems.

You make a fair point but there was a bit of nuance in this one.

2021 #1 was a "wantaway". Write-off, so we recouped 2022 #2 for him, close to the best we could do.

We were in a position to get our preferred 2 open draft options in 2022 so could afford to slide #1 to #3 + F1.

It wasn't the greatest trade of all time but under the circumstances where Port could've held a gun to our heads, it was pretty good.

Just my opinion and I'm not into spinning up club decisions as better than they are.

Totally agree that we could have done better. To many mention Harry in the trades but we where getting him regardless of any particular trade. But in the end it worked out great thank goodness.

Sorry but if you're only capable of seeing it in terms of pure draft capital, you're not fit to discuss the issue. Picks are picks until draft night, then they're players. Jason Horne-Francis was not Pick #1, he was a player who'd alienated the leaders in his club with his petulant whining and lack of commitment who was clearly going to go home as soon as possible, but for the time being was still under contract and in high demand to the right buyer. On top of this, we did the deal knowing that GWS, the new holders of pick 1, had eyes only for Cadman, while we preferred Wardlaw and Sheezel. Picking between the two of them would've been incredibly tough, but it didn't have to be in the end because we said thanks very much, we'll take both. And all it cost us was a player we didn't want and a player who didn't want us. We even get Pick #14 in this draft, which is nothing whatsoever to sneeze at, as icing on the cake.

That's ****ing brilliant. There's no way it could've gotten done without Brady orchestrating the whole thing with his old mates at West Coast who were willing to take a hit to pure draft capital if it meant they could take a few bites at the apple within the first round and select specific players they had their eyes on. GWS have draft capital coming out of their ears at every trade period so talking them into upgrading Pick 3 into Pick 1 was a savvy move too. There are plenty of things you can rightly criticize Brady for but this is absolutely not one of them. It's commendable. It remains to be seen what we do with this Pick 14 but we're going to be able to hit the first round pretty hard thanks to it.

But that's the thing, we did know. We knew who JHF was and everyone knew GWS wanted Cadman. They went into the deal knowing that. Swapping JHF and Cadman for Sheezel and Wardlaw is a good deal for us on its own, at the very least you'd call it a win win, and we got a sweetener on top of that. It almost doesn't matter who #14 is.

And honestly, even if we didn't know, that's a pretty good trade. It's usually really hard to separate the top 3 and there's a few instances where #1 is arguably the worst of the lot, i.e. McCartin over Petracca.

But we where not swapping JHF and Cadman for both as we where getting Harry regardless if we swapped for pick one Harry was always our first choice in last years draft.

We would have made out like bandits if port finished outside the 8, in the pick 5 to 8 range.

If we were getting Harry anyway isn't that extra reason to do the deal, cash in on JHF while we could still get anything for him and throw in Port's 1st rounder as a sweetener? What point are you trying to make?

My point is that i still believe we could have got better. What do you mean when you say cash in on Jason while we could get something for him. We where always going to be well compensated for him i just thought we may have got a bit more. He will still be a great player regardless of if we like him or not.

Guess what - one of the pick 1s was a known quantity, and didn’t want to play at the club, and the other pick 1 was in exactly the same category as the 2, 3 and 14 - unknown.

The JHF/Cadman trade looks worse because Wardlaw was out for most of the year with injury and Port’s pick this year slipped from 8 to 14. Both of those were just unlucky. Once we see Sheezel, Wardlaw and Reid/Schoenmaker(?) all dominating next year, and JHF stagnate and sook it up at Port, we will feel better about it.

North were getting 3+14 for JHF.

We called our first choice at two.

Why is this hard to get? It wouldn’t made any difference if we got two or one. We knew GWS were set on a different number 1 pick to us.

Probably the night we drafted him still reckon his manager was talking very early last year with port on how to get him back to Adelaide
1000 percent this. Karma’s a bitch though. Let’s see what happens down the track. Sounds like the manager is already in a spot of bother anyway. Shit blokes are gunna shit.
