I get it, just working within what might be realistic - so ‘big’, but relatively so

We definitely could do with a marking medium forward like him

But with the talent we have in our forward line currently, i agree it’s best to focus on other areas of the ground

I just don’t really see a point in going for someone like Gould or Roberts
I'm not in for Roberts just yet, but will be keeping an eye on him this season.

Loved that boombing left leg of his in his draft year. Feel like its a weapon that sets him apart from many mids.

don't know what his contract status is but he'll FA eligible in 2024

Is getting a 1- 1.5g/game medium sized HFF a Go Big move?

Especially in a team with 5 young, high 1st round picks currently residing in its forward 50.

I like Will Hayward, but in terms of team needs he's fairly low down my totem

You guys are too much.

Y'all act like we are spoilt for choice and actually need to decide between which players come to us.

If a 24 year old SA player who is easily best 22 in last years Grand Final side wants to come home you make it happen... Gentle reminder - Crows wins in 3 seasons under Nicks - 18. Swans wins last year - 18.

No, we have have finite resources to use on bringing in new players. We can't afford to just use them on anyone who might give a slight upgrade on an already strong area of the ground.

Plus ...Whitfield's got a bit of a chronic ankle ....had for a few years now
So we do a Cats like deal... we take Whitfield & their 1st rounder to take him off their hands...

Lachie Ash, Will Day, Nick Bryan, NWM, Dylan Stephens. All worthy of keeping an eye on

He doesn't want to come home though, we would need to make him want to come home.

That's the point.

We are not rejecting good players who want to come home, we are talking about who we would emphasize throwing the bank at for a Go Big deal.

This is not complex

Exactly. We take whatever we can. We have been a bottom side for the past 3 years and should have plenty of salary cap. We should be throwing the bank at as many players as we can - because history has shown us its bloody hard for us to poach other players.

This is not complex

True.

All from that infamous 2019 draft that we f**ked up on.

We could have picked most of them bar Stephens with our pick.

Sure hindsight here and at the time, McAsey was rated high, but a Serong in our team would have been amazing, not to mention he surely would have been in the discussion with our Pick 6.

theyre not all from that draft at all

also we had pick 4 originally and could have had stephens - they didn't want him

even with us trading down which netter pedlar the bext year we could have taken serong instead of mcasey

that was the mistake as you said

We couldnt have picked up NWM.. he was 2021..

We couldve grabbed kozzie picket tho..

Let that sink in.

We could have even traded down and picked Kosi and ended up with also another 2nd rounder too.

Let that sink in. Thats what hurts even more too.

NWM sounds like he’s travelling really well and could be the rebounding answer to replace Brodie Smith.
Many will say we can’t fit him in but Pickett is going to have another good year.

(From AFL.com) about the Saints 😇 vs Demons 😈 hit out…

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera was one of the Saints' most damaging in a new role off half-back.

and

Out-of-contract young gun Kysaiah Pickettdazzled in a new role in the middle, injecting pace and polish around the ball in short bursts, kicking two classy goals along with a long run down the wing that included a few bounces that left a swathe of Saints grasping at clean air.

and

Top-10 pick Mattaes Phillipou took a bit of time to find his feet but produced a strong second-half showing across half-forward that will put him in contention for round one. The South Australian kicked two second-half goals, missed a third and took a couple of big grabs in a first appearance that showed glimpses of his talent. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera provided plenty of drive coming out of the back half, with the Saints looking to release the former first-round pick at every opportunity.

None of them are centre square mids. That's what we need when talking about a midfielder. A taller bustling explosive mid.

We have a million half backs and half forwards, we need pure A grade talent

Dowling showed a bit yesterday, kicking was quite good too.....I'm thiinking he's going to be another Hamish success story already.
