Agree. But that's why he's going to play as the 3rd tall for the time being. Lachie was more or less thrown in the deep end as we'd just lost Fev.

At 4 & 7 they could get Wright/McCartin & best mid. And they still have pick 6.

If I was the Dogs I'd take the 3 top 10 picks over spending 1 mil for Boyd.

Could potentially get 4 (Wright), 6 (Lever) and 7 (Durdin) or use one of La Verde and pick 26 or 27 on another KPP. That sets there KPP up for the next decade. Would be ridiculous to take Boyd instead.

KJ has been a shadow to patton, cameron, boyd for far too long, no respect what so ever for jaksch. Tomorrow hopefully he will come out of that shadow and show what he can do on his own. Jaksch has talent as well but I reckon he is a better hard worker just does his job

Dayne Beams could become a Brisbane Lions player as soon as Tuesday, while Carlton was confident of finalising a deal for Kristian Jaksch, with the trade hinging on a decision from his Greater Western Sydney teammate Mark Whiley on whether to make the move with him.
The Blues were also looking at walking Liam Jones to the pre-season draft, having failed to make much headway in talks with the Western Bulldogs regarding the uncontracted forward.
Carlton was due to meet Whiley's manager on Monday evening, having pieced together every other element of the trade.
The deal would lead to the Blues gaining Jaksch, Whiley and sliding from pick seven to pick 19, with GWS taking Carlton's pick seven. Whiley is a 190-centimetre inside midfielder, who has played 12 games in three years for the Giants since joining the club as a NSW zone selection.

I'm guessing his manager wouldn't be meeting with us if he has absolutely no desire to come to us. Hope the meeting goes well.

I can understand a kid of Boyds age having his eyeslit up like a jackpot on a pokie with a massive offer before he has even proven he is worth it, and understand his manager going for the pie with the biggest slice in it for him.

But with the Doggies in the state they are, and the position he will find himself in as a hugely paid spearhead with no experience and no sidekicks, let alone role models, in the forward line, I am not sure it is the career move that is best.

And if he chooses that, well, no loss to us.

Whiley’s outstanding NEAFL season this year, averaging 30 touches and kicking 14 goals, saw him come to the attention of a host of AFL clubs.
