List Mgmt. Welcome Harley Reid (Pick 1, 2023 National Draft)

Hopefully company links come in with “benefits” allowing us to keep the cap freer.

At end of day, we can’t win a premiership if he takes a large chunk of the cap. Front end as much as possible.

Tigers won flags in 2019 and 2020 with Dusty in 1.2 million. Which is 2 million+ in 202-2027 numbers.

Harley Reid is open to adding a 4th year onto his three season contract. But it won’t be a long term deal & the price would need to be exceptional. And the little known clause that can allow an AFL-appointed arbiter to set his wage for 2nd & 3rd seasons

If that's the case its a great sign.

One that he clearly is enjoying it here. Two that he isn't a fool.

He has nothing to gain signing a long term deal 6 games into his career given his potential.

Yeah what if he had a serious long term injury.

4 years is plenty

The same Jon Ralph who said "Simmo gave WC the finger on his way out the door".

I'm waiting for a better source.

What if Harley incurs a long term injury? How does that affect his present pay packet, and long term prospects. Do they get paid the same regardless? eg - if out for a season?

Also off topic, But apparently Yeo is wanting a hefty pay packet in next deal. How does that work with someone who has a history of injuries and could happen again? Also has been loyally supported by the club during those long term injuries, does that factor into his next deal?

who reported yeo wants a hefty pay packet ?

Can't recall which one now, have read so many footy headlines, blogs and articles since the Derby - might be footy fluff, but it was being thrown around...but how does that work if he does?

What a bizarre league, random clause for someone outside the club or player to set a price.

There’s not a club in footy who wouldn’t pay Harley top dollar on his current form, even off the back of an ACL etc. If something horrible happened and then he wanted a trade, but only if he could sign a top dollar deal from year four onwards, he’d have suitors all around the country.

From the player/manager POV, there’s no need to lock himself into a long term deal now when there will likely always be one on the table in the foreseeable future.

From this report his looking for a multi-year deal. Could have 4-5 years of footy left in him, but could be one injury away from never seeing him again.

Multi-year deal could just be two years.

Should be 2 years (he has earned it, and TBH we gave those to NN, Shuey, Cripps etc the other side of 30 so fair enough).

Would love 2x +1 trigger options (game triggers, with the $ going up for the following year the more games he plays).

Depends what he wants though. Current Yeo is worth $900k-1m, but he is 31, coming off a decent contract where he played very little. I would love 2x $700k then 2x $500k 1-year options but not sure if Yeo would consider that enough
