Thought I'd start the new thread.

Because Blacktown was substandard, Thunder will relocate to Cricket Central at Silverwater.
The ground is world class, but they will begin with temporary stands and spectator facilities.

The WBBL draw is also due tomorrow.

There was an article the other day about the Scorchers ditching Lilac Hill, playing all five home games at the WACA.

Haven't seen anything else too interesting yet (like, say, a match to commemorate 150 seasons of women's cricket in Australia). Sixers v Stars at NSO, on a Thursday, to open the season. Then the Sydney Smash at the sexy new time of Sunday 5.25pm, just what the people want!

It's only said liiike every year, regardless of what other leagues are doing (IPL is 74 games, BBL was 61).

The fact they can only get 23 games broadcast at a reasonable standard would be the first clue that 59 is far too many. But they can't just cut it back without filling the void, otherwise the domestic-only players don't get enough cricket.

Things like a WBBL reserves (essentially the bottom 11 from each squad play between WBBL matches) or 2-day comp (using WNCL squads) wouldn't need anything more than livestream-quality coverage.

Im gathering also the WNCL doesnt have the same appeal as the WBBL in terms of marketing and coverage.

I'm expecting Ecclestone to stay with the Sixers, Wyatt with the Heat and either Knight or Beaumont with the Thunder.
Beaumont would be a handy addition to any side given her current form at the moment.

Im expecting a few of the English players to get picked up- not just your normal English starting XI as well.

Bouchier was kind of a dark horse when the Stars signed her 2 seasons ago, and she had only played for England twice (she's now played 19 T20Is), but even so...

The only real dark horses are black or brown-skinned girls from the non-big 3 nations. Even somebody like Ayabonga Khaka, despite having emphatically proven herself at international level.

Hopefully somebody picks up Fatima Sana, assuming she's not injured--idk. What we do know is that we will never see this again:

given that Ayesha Naseem has retired at age 18 due to "religious reasons" (which is code for: arranged husband sez so).

And of course, that's being talked about as much as the Afghan players (i.e. not at all) while we pat ourselves on the back for supporting "women's sport" (which is code for: the Matildas when they aren't losing to Nigeria).

Any idea why Nat Sciver-Brunt isnt in any of the teams? Dont think Sydney Sixers are as good as they are made out to be- they are currently bookies favourites to win it this season.

NSB?

I know her partner Katherine Sciver-Brunt decided to retire- remember watching that last game.

She’s having a break that’s all. Not retirement she’s had basically non stop cricket for 3 years. Needs a break.
