Just to back this up. We are 100% commited to keeping Dusty BUT we have set a deadline on this. If he does not commit by that deadline he will be traded. Also there is no way that we will be bent over by Melb or GWS. The AFL will make sure that does not happen. The AFL is wanting richmond to be back to a finals competitive side. This years crowds showed them how much we are needed!

When is the deadline? And I assume the afl control gws and the fact that the afl are giving melbourne the assistance package that this is the leverage your talking about?

I pretty much heard the same thing from my source at Tiger land. Dusty came back after just about signing because Carr attracted some interest from MFC after the Roos signing. He stalled and so we said ok if you want to look elsewhere we are going to let everyone know you are on the market. Hence why the first news to break this was a statement on AFL.COM from RFC.

The AFL are very much working in the background to ensure he doesn't go to GWS and other interstate clubs and they have warned them of what they are buying.

Think your right.

There will be a lot of "I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean it" Happy Gilmore style quotes going on.

Personally I'm happy either way aslong as we are fairly compensated if he does go
The worst i have said is calling him a loser which is pretty good for me, i am usually the worst on this board for ridiculous over the top bent rant, i truly want him to stay but i think he is gone.

I have also heard that ralph promised the Martins Dusty will get 600k PRIOR to negations with the RFC. It was his way to get Dusty as a client. That is whats caused this mess to start with. If the AFL and the RFC can prove this..Ralph is in big trouble as agents are not able to do promises like that to gain a client unless they have it already guaranteed.

A tad touchy eh.....

Everyone knows Fyfe is an absolute gun. equal of ay young player in the comp.
Regardless of Jacks (sometimes) antics so is he. They are different players and every club would love them both - including Richmond and Freo. Of course no trade will occurs with either involved.

recess is nearly over so let's wrap up this riveting convo gents. mmmkay?

So if he doesn't agree to terms by Friday, that's it we will be trading, regardless?

From what i have heard, as of now. Yes but then we will take the gloves off to Dustys manager. He has made promises that's put this deal in the state its in and we will officially complain to the AFL about it. Its the reason why Ralph was pushing for the extension so he could shop Dusty around as we were never going to offer 600k....lot will play out with this one.

IMO a lot is happening with Dusty and the club to get him to stay from the coaches and players but Friday if he is not signed it will take something monumental for us to sign him.

How can they stop it happening

The AFL have direct input to both of those clubs. If you thought the impact was bad in regards to the press about the tippet trade, imagine if a up and coming tiger side who just managed to make the finals after 12 years loses a player for nothing to a expansion club. The press would have a field day and Vlad wont have that happen.

Bookmark it if we lose dusty.

What 37,000 at ANZ for Sydney V Carlton isnt a big enough crowd for the AFL
Greedy Scum Bags

There would have been 37,000 Richmond fans alone had we been playing.

I got the feeling he wont sign, hope I'm wrong but that's my gut feel, i hope we mess Ralph up, he has screwed this from every point the ass.

I mentioned on another thread that Shane Nelson is staying at my house.
He is dating my cousin and they are flying over for the Grand Final.

Will try get some information from him. Either for his own career (hopefully at the tiges) or he may have some news on other players in the WAFL.

He was tipped as a possible 2nd rounder a year ago or two years ago wasn't he? That 25-40 range? One of the best kicks in his age group IIRC.
Any update?

No updates as yet. I have never met him personally all i know is he is dating my cousin who knows SFA about football and they are staying over at my place for a few days at the end of this month. I knew he played in the WAFL but it wasnt until i heard his name thrown around on this forum that i put 2 and 2 together.

No doubt when i get the chance to meet him i will ask where he thinks his career is at.
Will put in in a few good words for RFC and if he or the club chooses him to play at RFC he can stay at my place rent free.:thumbsu:

I must be in the minority here but this talk of pick 2 or pick 1 has me less excited than say Longer and Pick 7 from Brisbane.

As good as Dusty is or can be, I think we would be better off adding two very good players or potentially 2 very good players than looking for a straight replacement with 1 gun.

Yes stars are great to have, but I would prefer to have as many very good players as possible than a few stars and alot of good players.

I hope that makes sense, I am struggling today.

Nope i'm with you.

Its like saying do you want Mummy and Jack/O'Keefe or just Tippet.

My big hope if we trade Martin is getting two very good (potential) players in return. But If we nabbed Longer and salem/sheed/Dunstan/Lennon vs just Boyd give me the first option every time. Especially if we land Adams as well.

My wish list:
Dusty --> pick 7 + Longer
pick 11 --> Adams
FA --> Dal Santo

Goodbye nail biting anxiety whenever an unidentified player scandal is mentioned in the media
Hello premiership window

I spoke to someone who had previously worked on the audit of the AFL, he told me GWS are a controlled subsidiary of the AFL.

The AFL has the final say on GWS's actions.

We won't be losing Dusty in the PSD.

Bingo.

Also you can add melbourne to the list as well. With the AFL bailing them out, they have a active say on who they appoint and recruit.

So hope this is true. Will be interesting to see how they could orchestrate it but yeah pretty much clinging to this

Dal Santo isn't a FA. He has a clause in his contract that automatically contracts him to St Kilda for next year. He needs to be traded for
