Well, the final day. Always such a hollow feeling when the final event wraps up and it’s just the closing ceremony to come. At least the 2022 Olympics are just around the corner, but that’ll be little consolation tomorrow night. These Games have been brilliant, from start to finish, and I’m sure there are long lasting memories we’ll all take from Tokyo. We can reflect on our highlights from these Games, but for now, one last time let’s look at what is to come on day 16.

Highlights include:

• Men’s marathon
• Volleyball women’s bronze medal match Serbia vs Korea
• Handball women’s bronze medal match Norway vs Sweden
• Rhythmic gymnastics group all around final
• Track cycling finals
• Volleyball women’s gold medal match Brazil vs USA
• Water polo men’s bronze medal match Hungary vs Spain
• Handball women’s gold medal match ROC vs France
• Water polo men’s gold medal match Greece vs Serbia

As the Tokyo Olympics winds down lets take time to give the Japan Olympic Committee a huge pat on the back for pulling off an enormous feat amid a global pandemic.

The entire Australian team has done us proud. Multiple golds, silver, bronze.. But hey let's not sneer at our non medal winners as even those that did not make finals have done their PBs and will be better for the experience to take that to Paris in three years, where hopefully the greatest sporting show on earth with resume its normalcy..

US now overtaken China on the medal tally for the first time in the whole Olympics. US have had a huge 24 hours winning both mens and womes basketball and 4x400 relays. With the events left, US has 3 gold medal chances compared to China's 1, so US should take out the Olympics overall - did not look that way for the majority of the Olympics though.
