In this thread are all tutorials and templates made by users of the Footy Jumpers and Graphic design board on BigFooty. They are made available to all users of this website and the wider public for free, whether or not they are registered on here, so on behalf of the entire community on here, I’d like to give a HUGE thanks to all designers who have contributed over the years.

In this thread you will find tutorials and templates for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Paint, GIMP and a small number of various miscellaneous items, which aren’t specific to a single program. In here we try to cater for designers of all skill levels – for seasoned veterans and those who have just began today. If you’re a complete newcomer, here are some other threads I recommend you check out in conjunction with this one:
The Question And Answer Thread (click here) – If you have any questions about anything design related, ask them in there.

Anybody who would like to make a contribution to this thread, in the form of a tutorial, template, or a helpful hint, post it in this thread (by clicking here) and it will be moved into here by whoever the moderator is at the time. Also feel free to post in there if you have noticed an error, such as a dead link or broken image.

First of all, here's an important one, particularly for those who aren't so good with computers or are new to the site. How to Post Images on BigFooty by Macca_:

Adobe Photoshop:
Photoshop is an amazing tool for graphic designers. It’s main focus is to edit real life photos, but because of it’s amazing capabilities, we here at FJGD like to use it for graphic design! It’s user friendly and therefore easy to use. There are also a lot of templates on here for it. However, it is a rastor based program rather than a vector based program. Click here to read about the difference between rastor and vector images. If you decide that you want to work with vector images rather than rastor images, scroll down a little bit to see the Adobe Illustrator tutorials and templates.

All Photoshop Templates on here are uploaded onto 4shared.com and available for users to download. The website is fast and free. You will be required to sign up to the site to download the templates, but don’t worry, they don’t spam you or anything.

The pen tool is a VERY important aspect in designing, particularly when using Photoshop or Illustrator. It’s highly recommended that you learn to use the pen tool. Also, feel free to search for videos on youtube, they really do help.

Adobe Illustrator:
Illustrator is a program which many professional graphic designers use. It is a user friendly program and many designers on this board use it, such as Mero, the creator of footyjumpers.com. Illustrator is a vector based program, which is ideal for graphic designers. Click here to read about the difference between rastor and vector images.

The numbers that the AFL use on their jumpers are available from to extract this link. It’s a PDF, but still a vector image, so can be used in Illustrator.

Helpful Hint:
If you’re looking for vector versions of team logos, sponsor logos or anything else of that nature, then search on Google for “team/sponsor PDF”. For example, if you want the Hyundai logo, google “Hyundai PDF” and you should be able to extract the image from the PDFs available.

Microsoft Paint:
Microsoft Paint is one of the easiest programs to navigate with and use for designing. It is the perfect tool for those who can’t get their hands on Photoshop or Illustrator. While it has some limited capabilities which can affect the quality of your designs, some of this site’s best designers use Paint to create wonderful designs.

2013 Colour Guide by Essee Cross:
jszjfb.png

•The extra two navy blues under Adelaide are from their logo and 2011/12 clash. The red and yellow may change in 2013 when Puma becomes the manufacturer.
•The brown, cerise and yellow under Brisbane are from the Bears' days. They aren't used anymore but can be used for heritage designs.
•Carlton will discontinue the sky blue from 2013.
•The dark purple under Fremantle is actually slightly navy and appears like so on the merchandise. The lighter purple underneath is used on the logo, artwork etc and is the purple found on previous jumpers. Fremantle don't use the red or green anymore.
•The orange that GWS wear looks different at night time compared to when in the sun. The orange in the guide is what it looks like in the sun, as that is when GWS normally play. I have also thrown silver in, as that is what they used before entering the AFL.
•The orange that GWS players wear in games is different to the orange on ISC replica guernseys that you buy in stores or online. I've chosen the one that is worn during matches.
•Hawthorn's brown may change come 2013 with Adidas, as it was quite maroon when they were with Puma.
•Port Adelaide has used three teals in recent times. The first in the image is an "aqua teal" which will be used from 2013. The one below that is the teal that was used in 1998/1999 and in 2010-12. The "cyan teal" next to that was used from 2000-09. The silver has barely been used and I doubt it will be used again in the future.
