Yep. The first 2-3 days is all about getting the BP lead. From there you can control the game to an extent. i.e. bat for a draw if you have to in the second dig.

I don’t think you can think like that; this is a five-day game, given the state of Shield batting, a result is almost a guarantee. Play to win, don’t worry too much about the maths.
