can extrapoloate from NRl.com - total 5 city viewership was reported there as 727,000 - so 5,000 between Adelaide and perth.

Across the Nine, WIN and NBN networks, the 2012 All Stars match averaged 1.296 million viewers nationally (2011: 990,564) – 726,981 in Australia’s five capital cities and a further record 569,062 (2011: 399,379) across regional Australia

How many AFL matches were in the top 100 pay tv programs of 2012?

No idea. The NRL claimed in September that they had 74 of the top 100 programs, and 8 of the top 10. I cannot locate an easy to find reference for this other than NRL quotes, and AFl data probably wont be available until the annual report.

Conversely, we do know that Foxfooty was the top rating subscription channel every week of its operation during the season.

Yeah in 2011 that was. 2012 would have been much different with plenty of AFL matches on Fox Footy rating over 300,000. Because the nRL's lead in pay TV would have declined in 2012, no rl journos would have bothered to write an article about it.

They announced that well before both competitions were over. It was an odd decision at the time, but when the AFL started monstering them in the ratings during the finals series it started to make sense. Will be interesting to see the top 5 STV programs for 2012 when the AFL annual report comes out (soon?).

Yeah I dont think tha the nRL would be rushing into print esp the biased Murdoch rags with the latest data where the AFL will clearly be shown to be on top.
