That's your opinion.

The reference is made in relation to trust. How trustworthy is a bloke who walks out on his wife and children and walks out on his club when it still wants him? I'd be looking sideways if I was in the trenches with him.

Like you, I think it's the best thing for the RFC he left. And I thank him for what he has done.

It's been done to death but his announcement as GC coach only reinforces my opinion that this was done some time ago. If you can't see that you're incapable of reading between the lines.
Context is everything....

He was married for 20 odd years, all 3 kids were adults so they weren't dependents. The only one he may have let down was his wife, but again, 20+ years is a lot in comparison to other marriages in this day and age, and after 20+ years, if he's not happy why should he hang around and be unhappy just to please the optics for people he doesn't know or care about.

And as for coaching, 14 years in the one gig, it's hardly deserting the group is it. He is the longest serving Richmond coach, who took over when we were shit and rock bottom, stayed with us when we again looked like hitting rock bottom in 16, won 3 wars (flags, but if you want to reference trenches lets use a war analogy) and tried to keep going for a few more years. He's 22nd in overall games coached, BUT if we are talking one club coaches (given you want to use deserting clubs as your reference) he is 3rd on the list for games coached when only coaching at one club.... FAIRLY GOOD SERVICE I WOULD THINK

I get you don't like the fact he left his family, but trying to align that with a quitter, or a weak person is more a reflection on you than him.

Surely the club owns the name Richmond Football Club?
Hi Hoos,
I hope this provides some clarity over this issue:

As per ibisworld.com website:

Richmond Football Club Limited - Australian Company Profile

Enterprise Type: Public Company

What does Richmond Football Club Limited do?

Richmond Football Club Ltd is a locally-owned public unlisted company, engaged in the operation of an AFL club and fielding teams the national men's and women's and regional men's AFL competitions The company employs approximately 362 employees, operates in Victoria, and is administered by its head office in Richmond, Vic.

However: (this is the unfortunate rub here):
As per afl.com.au website:

The AFL owns all intellectual property relating to the AFL brand and all 18 AFL Clubs. As a licensor, the AFL manages the commercialisation of AFL Club IP through a centralised licensing program.7 Oct 2021.

Yes, this truly sucks, as would not be opposed to a breakaway league being formed, however the minions at AFL House (aka the Old Boys Club), have got all the legal loop holes covered

In the meantime, the club will just have to keep up the good fight, scratch and claw to win premierships (nothing has ever come easy for the Tigers) as they have been since joining the VFL back in 1908.

Go Tigers...Raise The Fight...Eat Em Alive

if Richmond and a few other big clubs boycott they can eat shite and suck eggs

they'd go into damage control and we'd toy with them and treat them like little toddlers

Problem solved

Hi Hoos,

Well that sucks, lol.

What we need is for all the skeletons to come out of all the AFL's cupboards. Then maybe things can get back on an even keel.

And that's all we have ever wanted.

Believe me, if there are 8 large clubs that want to break away, they will.
All that legal crap will be meaningless.
The AFL wont exist anymore if the large clubs leave, the clubs have the power, the AFL pretends it does.

Does that mean if we were to break away and rebrand ourselves say the Richmond Ligers, the AFL would just recreate the Richmond Tigers as a wholly owned AFL property and carry on like nothing happened?

Have a soft spot for the Roy Boys.
Pop barracked for the Lions.
Hope the Lions or Power win the flag.
Hate Collingwood so much.
They are not as good as the Dees in 2021, their best season in 60 years.
Lions defeat the Aints then finish second, two home finals.

3aw are calling this year the best season ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have never seen a worse season of footy . corruption and match fixing every where
Every year i hear its the best season ever, except 2017, 2019 & 2020 as those years raised concerns about the "state of the game".
