Perhaps over next few months we'll get the chance to re-do this list. A number of players pre-1955 probably kicked 1000+ and now thanks to Trove newspapers site we take educated guess at if not exact figure for them. I also re-booted the thread to encourage regional media (and historians) to tackle the truth about Trevor Sutton's career, instead of simply reprinting the nonsense claim of 4000+ .

Tony Doran is still playing for Nullawil. He has been playing reserves since 2007. He's over 50 now. Weekly Times did a article last year when he went past 3000 open age goals. 2214 of them seniors plus over 800 reserves

Just to give a update on some current playing full forwards.

1)Matthew Walsh; is 35 and just kicked his 1000th goal for the South Cairns Saints. Has 90 odd goals this season with 3 games to go plus finals. Apparently in his early career he played in the Ballarat football comp, be it Redan, and had kicked some 500 goals in that comp. Thus he is most likely on close to 1500 plus goals in his career ..

2) Korey Fulton; originally from South Warnambool kicked a hundred plus at a early age before moving to qld where he played the majority of his career at Broadbeach and kicked some 670 goals. He then played for Palm Beach and kicked 60 odd, then Surfers Paradise and bagged 90. Then went to Robina for 2 seasons and bagged 90 and 130, has finally retired at 38 years of age, but he must have some 1150 odd goals to his credit, Amazing is the fact he is only about 5 ft 10, but his leading , his ability to read the flight of the ball and his ability to read the fall of the ball was exceptional.

3) Jason Eagle; from the Sunraysia football league as youngster and bagged some 100 goals plus before moving to South Cairns were he bagged 120, then moved to Redlands in the NEAFL and kicked 80. Then played for Broadbeach in the same comp for 2 seasons kicking 52 and 72. Then went to Shepparton United in the GVFL and bagged 999 and 112 over 2 seasons . 2014 saw him at South Croydon in the strong Eastern div. comp where he kicked 72. This season he has returned to his grassroots in the Sunraysia comp and has 94 with 4 games to go plus at least 2 finals games. Is on track to kick some 120 plus.I think he is in his late twenties thus all going well he may play for a few seasons yet and end up with a good career tally .

4) Grant Weekes; this guy must be such a gun. .......played for a number of years for his home town in the Heathcote league, then stepped up to Golden Square for a few seasons in the Bendigo league, then stepped up again to Rochester in the gvfl and has now returned to his home club in the Heathcote league where he is yet again closing in on 100 goals. He played in this years AFL Country rep side that defeated the Vic Metro side in wet heavy conditions and bagged 7 goals from the sides 11 goals kicked.
Im finding it hard to get the stats on his total goalkicking tally so far but I know he has kicked 100 goals plus on numerous times and I know he bagged 167 one season.
Todman, can you look into this as I think his tally will be well over the 1000 mark.

I think if you look at club football Grant Weeks isn't quite up to 1000 goals yet. I believe he is on 968 at present.

Ohhhh you're the reason Weeksy went bang.

Must have read this and realised he was short. Blokes put 35 goals on in the 2 games he's played since you posted this.

He's an absolute freak.

Marc Geppert has announced his retirement from Australian Rules to concentrate on his new job as the regional manager of AFL Southern NSW so he won't have a conflict of interest with any clubs he has played for.
He retires as a seven - time premiership player, having kicked a career total of goals was 1287 from 261 games at Ganmain -Grong Grong - Matong, Collingullie - Glenfield Park (last club) and East Wagga - Kooringal. From 2006 to 2019 he represented the league for all but one season he played in. He also represented NSW in 2008 and 2012.
