how's the big fella tracking? haven't seen him since Christmas.
injury free I hope?
Primus spoke about him a couple weeks ago, mentioned he has a few minor ongoing back issues, but nothing thats impacting him anymore. Pretty much business as usual.
The clubs website has him having gained 5kg, which is giving him a decent frame I would think.
Its only me guessing, but he 'may' get a taste in the NAB, and then there a fair chance he will get the chance to hold down a key forward spot at the Magpies to start the season, which would be good for his development.
Do you know how he's enjoying it over here ?
Sounds like not much has changed then, was looking in good shape then
Loving it over there from what I can gather, last year was a bit of a battle just because he was barely able to train but he seems to be enjoying it all.
thinking of popping over for a visit in the coming weeks (about to start a months worth of annual leave)
Come to Alberton on a Wednesday morning and you'll be able to see him going round at training.Sounds like not much has changed then, was looking in good shape then

JOHN Butcher is jokingly nicknamed "The Future" by his Port Adelaide team-mates.
When he was drafted by the Power at No. 8 in the 2009 national draft, the 197cm stringbean was immediately dubbed as the second coming of the club's greatest key forward, Warren Tredrea.
It has taken a long time for Port fans to understand why.

As his football has done in just four senior games for Port Adelaide, John Butcher's passionate words make a compelling statement as to why the Power are not the basket case they have been made out to be.
Butcher, fast growing a reputation as one of the game's most exciting young key forwards, said his loyalty to Port for giving him his AFL lifeline made it easy last year to ignore strong overtures from his home State of Victoria and stay on with his battling club.

Butcher has switched guernsey number from #32 to #11.
Butcher set for return this weekend
JOHN Butcher is likely to return to football as soon as this weekend according to senior coach Ken Hinkley.
Butcher has been in recovery mode since undergoing hip surgery after the 2012 season.
The enigmatic forward broke onto the AFL stage at the end of 2011 with several standout performances in his first four matches, before struggling through his follow up season; a case of the dreaded ‘second year blues’.
Butch happy with first hit out
JOHN Butcher last kicked a football in anger in July last year.
He was booked in for hip surgery following Balfours Showdown XXXIII and since then has undergone eight months of rehabilitation.
Often striking a lonely figure as he walked laps of Alberton Oval during pre-season training in November and December, his recovery gained pace after the playing group returned from its Christmas break.
25-year-old Carlile, who would have been eligible for free agency at season’s end, signed a four-year contract extension committing him to Port Adelaide until the end of 2017. 22-year-old Trengove and 21-year-olds Moore and Butcher have committed to two-year contract extensions, keeping them at Alberton to at least the end of 2015.
