Player Watch JHF - Jason Horne-Francis

Big Horndog Francis and King Harley Reid tearing the competition a brand new a-hole and they lost one and swapped the other for a meaningless win against Gold Coast Suns.
Quite possibly the dumbest decision Clarko has ever made in his coaching career. It was a dead rubber for the Suns who literally had nothing to gain from a win and played the way you would expect a team in that scenario would. Instead of making a smart decision to play all the kids/rookies, Clarko decides to roll out guys like an in-form Larkey who had kicked 11 goals in the two games leading up to this one and sure enough Larkey goes on to kick nine goals against the Suns which essentially won the Roos the game and costs the club a generational talent that would have been a star for 15 years.

The lack of foresight from Clarko in this scenario is astonishing.

Yeah, must have made a huge difference as they're now as s**t as they ever were. The tiniest bit of short term pain could have got them a 15 year gain of what could be a superstar of the comp.

If he'd dropped Larkey, genuinely the only fit key forward on our list at the time, we would have rightfully been sanctioned for tanking.

If anything, it's probably caused some of the players to resent Clarko because this was their chance to turn the corner with a generational talent entering the club and they blew it. Clarko let his ego get in the way of what was best for the club's future.

This happens literally every year in the last round of the season. All they'd have to say is Larkey had a sore hamstring and they don't want to risk it, which would be very believable considering he kicked 11 goals in the two weeks before. The Suns chose to drop their second best key forward in Jack Lukosius and also didn't pick their best key forward in Ben King for this game and no one batted an eye.

It was a bad decision from Clarko to go hard for the win. There's no justifying it.

While I agree completely, Reid would have left Norf in a heartbeat.

The kid is as FIGJAM as it gets (and I love it FWIW, it's not a bad thing at all).

There's no way he would've tolerated playing 4:40 games under the roof in from of ten thousand people on a Sunday afternoon.

For all the flaws of West Coast recently, they're still a mega club that carries a glamour for those who pull on the jumper, and those fans are always going to show up.

Reid would be at Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon or Geelong by the end of this year if North drafted him.

Didn't Ratten coach that game?

Ridiculous play at the end going in that hard when the team was only 6 points up. Hard play does not equate to smart play.

Watch how Collingwood have won their 20 or so close games in the last two years with a couple of minutes legt. They will try to create stoppages and lock it in without giving away a free. Finesse is needed in those moments, not “I’m going to show everyone what a battering ram I am”

Almost cost them the game with that stupidity
Ah well, that settles it, the Collingwood way is the only way, for now and ever more.

Who knows.

What I do know is West Coast in the same round was one of the most clear cut examples of tanking that there’s ever been. Taylor Walker was chasing the Coleman, we were looking to kick it to him just about every entry and McGovern barely went near him. There has been no mention of this anywhere.

I reckon you’d have to pretty much kick the oppo’s goals for them to get done for tanking. The AFL is gun shy to investigate it after the s**t show that was the Melbourne situation.

What if Reid ended up a dud?

North were in the same position in 2017, winning a last round game to get from last to 15th. Would they be a better side with Rayner instead of Davies-Uniacke?

Would suck being North Melbourne supporter sometimes. Big Horndog Francis and King Harley Reid tearing the competition a brand new a-hole and they lost one and swapped the other for a meaningless win against Gold Coast Suns. Sad for them.

Horny is a beast.
Would suck even more to be called Mr Ass.

I've noticed the booing has stopped.

Id like to believe that footy fans can now appreciate why wasting a talent like his at North would have been a poor outcome and can now enjoy watching a pure player develop his craft.

He'll cop it from both North fans next week which is to be expected.
