Or in other words “I have no idea what’s going on”

So, it appears GC don't want to be left out of the 1st round. Offer them 23. They want to get money off the books for next year. If they don't accept IR goes to PSD and the Geelong deal falls over. They will deserve the outcome for trying to be too smart.

Why would the Bowes deal be holding the Rankine deal up unless we're getting whatever Geelong give for Bowes and 7?
5 and a future 3rd (probably Collingwood's) for Rankine and 25 with a swap of 4th rounders?

What would we do then with 23 and 25? Try to move up a bit?

Gold Coast had 25 before giving it to Brisbane

Or.....GC will only give us the lower steakknife if they get what they want from Geelong?

I expect the problem is that we are waiting for our future third from Collingwood before giving it to GC.

There have been way more early deals than normal this year.

People forget how little happens early in the trade period, even though it happens every single year.

It will be for pick five and we'll offer something late next year for something from GCS late this year. GCS are just dealing with other things.

Everyone here will complain and everyone in the media will say we got a good deal, and probably neither are right.

"The Crows’ pick five in this year’s draft – which will fall back one spot once a bid is matched for Brisbane father-son gun Will Ashcroft – will be the centrepiece of the trade with Gold Coast.

There is no suggestion the deal won’t get done but there are complications around what each club wants, with both of them believed to be more interested in future selections for differing reasons."

(we need picks next year because we have more players coming off the list, and GCS have points they need for academy players)

Not much of note in there. In addition to what Mostyn posted above:

"Adelaide has only three vacant list spots, all of which could be used at the draft, including potentially one on father-son prospect Max Michalanney.

The 192cm defender’s father, Jim, played 211 games for Norwood, one of the SANFL feeder clubs in the Crows’ father-son eligibility."

Thanks Mostyn

That’s cool as long as there is development on our front in between. If not it means no one talks or deals with Reid and that is a major problem. An ex player manager turn list manager doesn’t yield great results. Ned Guy anyone.?
This appointment hasn’t really jumped. Few good ones but not comprehensively good.
The deal is probably already done.
