Does a rocking horse have a wooden doodle?

Yes of course it’s clickbait.

That’s how you sell advertising..per click.

The higher the click rate, the more the advertiser pays to be on that article with an Ad.

So you need loads of content to fill the positions of said advertisers.

And most of that content is mindless word drool rubbish.

But we all read it anyway..

Can remove the “AFL” from your headline.

The business of news fundamentally changed with the internet. In print form publishers and advertisers had a “sense” of what was popular and drew readers, but they never actually “knew” - people bought the paper, then who knows how they consumed it.

There was a disconnect between the individual content and the advertising dollars, so editorial had some kind of freedom to do their thing.

Not now. We know exactly how popular each and every individual piece of content is, and the only thing that matters is clicks. So clickbait will be the primary tool that publishers use, because clicks are how they draw advertisers.

The main thing some people still don’t seem to grasp is that media (apart from state-owned media) is just a business. It’s there to make money for the owners and represent their interests, like any other business.

Pathetic is the word and that goes with all our journos news, sports and entertainment, All gutter trash journalism mostly filled with opinions rather than facts.
The fact that we have gutter trash journalism points towards more gutter trash minds in the world.

I am getting pretty good at sifting through what to click on and what not to .... a meaningful and worthy news story over a meaningless bullshit story with an exaggerated, overblown headline ..... but ..... sometimes you just have check out what the offspring of fat bogan triplets impregnated by alien goats really look like

The Age footy journos are nice people, no doubt, but Baum is the only one seemingly free enough (retired?) to write a vaguely cutting piece.

The rest, I wouldn't be surprised if they run their copy past AFL House media centre before publication, just to be sure...gormless pollyanna stuff when there is so much that needs genuine independent examination.

Kane Cornes was the first to break the silence about Hocking's rule change shambles...and that only only happened today!

STAND then OUTSIDE 5, a stupid reactive rule band-aiding a poorly thought out rule...6-6-6 reducing any tactical interest in the game...Scoring down and stop-start-stop-start like netball...all such predictable outcomes.

But crickets from The Age...

To be honest, I though that the title of this thread was going to lead to an informed conversation, but all I found was a yes/no poll with no Jack Watts option, and the word click used so often that it looks like an AI Bot chat room.

So this thread, in itself, is click bait rubbish

So, in short, yes.

Anything else you want to know, Kane?

This is embarrassing. Reality is most supporters never want to hear anything negative about their club so kick up a stink and shoot the messenger when a journo shines a light on their clubs wrongdoings or deeds. Suck it up the lot of you.

He's one of the worse now.
And it’s completely calculated because he knows whatever support base he enrages will generate discussion on whatever he says driving more people to go and have a look at what he actually said

He wouldn’t truely believe half the stuff he says but he knows it’s good for his bottom line if he rage baits fans
