Jeremy Cameron slams his head into the turf, looks dazed, the doc asks a few questions, then what happens? Willem Drew smacks his head on Cameron’s face earlier on and it takes the docs five minutes to get Drew off? Anyone watching the TV broadcast could see the contact to the head, same as Cameron. But then it takes five minutes before they are taken off.

Unless I’m wrong on the points above, it is beyond time to bring in independent doctors who have the authority to bring players off, no questions asked.

The current system seems like a mess.

I think the AFL has to look into Independent doctors.

Of course the player is going to say "I am okay" it's not up to them the Doctors should have got him off & put him through the concussion test.

Geelong should expect fine coming.

Absolutely 💯.

Bevo lying his ass off about the Tom Liberatore collapse a few weeks was just embarrassing..

We need independent Drs..

Club Drs are too subservient to the senior coach and everyone knows this.

If a club Dr pisses off or challenges the coach they lose their job and no Dr wants to lose that club Dr position.

It's ridiculous.

If Cameron had come off it would prove that concussion is being taken seriously. Star player & game in the balance. but nope game too important.

Has the same thing just happened with Blakey? Took about five minutes before he came off for an assessment

It all happens way too often..it's a big blind spot in the AFL regime overall .

Clubs and coaches will all whinge and sook about not having control over it but the AFL needs to be strong here.

Gone on too long.

We have had so many retirements now due to concussion it will only get worse if this stuff isn't taken seriously.
health is more important than a football game.

Has to be independent & unbiased so supporters & fans can not question decisions.

for gods sake, if he answers the questions that’s he us fine the he is fine.
Just two years ago not one of you gave a crap about concussion and now if the wind blows hard next to someone’s head you all think the guys is concussed.
Just end thes-oft and make it non contact, you will all be happy.

You sound like you've already had a few knocks to the head. Maybe you should come off

Should have been assessed at the very least. Will be fined.

The discussion about independent v club Drs and the pressure club Drs are under to follow a coach's order have been going on for decades.

So nah. . Not two years.

It would also cost $0 to implement as there are already independent afl doctors who are there for the officials/ umpires. A colleague of mine works as one, and they also believe they should be doing the player assessments/ concussions tests (we discussed it around the aliir incident)

Can you imagine Chris Scott's reaction if that doctor had have forced Cameron to come off at that stage of the game?

What is annoying is that the AFL do such questionable stuff like f**k around with the rules and suspend players for incidental stuff - all in the name of 'the head is sacrosanct', but when it comes time to implement some actual sensible, logical and practical things they sit on their hands.

It's infuriating how unprofessional and amateurish the AFL can be

Seems like a natural progression. Not sure they need to be on the ground. Most of us would've thought Cameron should've gone for a HIA test last night at the very least.

Fox did mention if a player subbed out for strategic purposes can then become the replacement player. Not a bad idea, but would obviously need discussion.
