I'm a sports mad fan, and win, lose or draw I will always stick by my favourite teams no matter what.
Being a Carlton supporter has been frustrating to watch over the last few years, and while we're only average now, it's better than being plain shit in the ****ing toilet like we have been. And despite this, I know this in the knowledge that without doubt, we are the greatest team to have ever played in the AFL and will return to those grand days soon enough.
Having Kiwi relatives and mates down in Tasmania, I enjoy rugby as well. I was previously more of a union fan but since moving up to Queensland I have discovered that it's more of a league area and have been following that more.
I barrack for what is an extremely average League team in the New Zealand Warriors, and wonder if they are ever going to win the ****ing thing and take the trophy away from Australia for the first time ever. Why? Family ties. Yet in the world cup in rugby league I was an Aussie all the way and look what happened.
Nevertheless, when it comes to Union, I am a Wallaby through and through (yes, Tasmania is part of Australia haha). But I barrack for them in the knowledge we haven't won the Bledisloe since forever god damn. Still, I laugh at my Kiwi relatives over the fact that they continue to choke in World Cups. And still I cry over the fact that we lost the final on home soil to guess who else than bloody England. So no real winner there.
Yes, I choose to align myself to Queensland in State of Origin rugby, but not being a native Queenslander I don't have that much hatred of the Blues. So I don't feel like a winner in those regards.
Soccer is my ultimate bandwagoner sport where I follow the underdogs, but they never get up in world cups or stuff like that. Still, I will align myself to the new Gold Coast team in the A-League and for the first time really follow a "football" team. Still no winner.
Follow tennis but didn't pay much attention to Wimbledon this year. Missed out on Roddick nearly beating Federer in one of the all time classics. And Serena won another slam against Venus. Sigh.
What about cricket, and in particular with the Ashes coming up against England? Ah yes, at long last, I back a winner.
Still, we will probably lose the first test because of 2 reasons.
1: We did not pick our specialist swing bowler in Ben Hilfenhaus (give the ****in guy a break please). But after we lose the first test he will come in and be the leading wicket taker for the series. Yep, if only he played in the first test we would take out the series 5-0 for the second consecutive time.
2: Our best spinner is playing for the second XI in Jason Krejza (remember that guy who took 12 wickets on debut)? Plus the fact he's scoring runs with the bat, and soon enough he will be the best all-rounder in the country.
And they both play for what is clearly the best state in the country in Tasmania.
Now let's be realistic here folks. Australia is going to win the next 4 tests and continue their world domination of cricket. So there won't be any drastic changes necessary to our lineup.
But after the Tasmanian Tigers take out the domestic treble to be the country's first Triple Corwn winners, our second XI team will consist of the entire Tasmanian First XI team.
Yep, I back a winner.
