There isn't a person in the Browns entire organization who doesn't merit some kind of criticism.....from HC down to the long snapper. But it's also the times, every armchair fan and analyst is an expert.
For memory the coach was picked before Berry arrived. Lol. Maybe let Berry pick a coach and see if that works if not both can go and you can bring in a new gm who can then pick.. another coach :)

How much longer is Stefanski under contract?

The problem is as AC always says, DePodesta has a stranglehold of Haslam's ear, and the whole front office therefore runs thru him, which is all about moneyball and not enough football acumen. So every hire and every transaction and every strategy is based on theory and math not on football know-how. So no wonder there have been a lot of bad draft picks, trades, free agent signings and in-game tactics.

Moneyball is a very convincing movie, I too would have hired the guy after watching it

Problem with moneyball it works up to a point Oakland A's have made a playoffs a bunch of time since they went to it but never won a tittle. Plus a baseball season is 162 so averages are over a long period of games so alot of leway if players/teams have bad stretch of runs there is none of that when nfl is 17 game and one or two bad games is difference between playoffs and not making them.

Analytics has it place it football but also need to incorporate football knowledge and football experience otherwise it just won't work like browns have found out.

The point of Moneyball, (as portrayed in the book), was not to win championships but to become competitive with a lower total salary cost, making the team more profitable. In the case of the book, it was to make the playoffs regularly but not necessarily to win the championship. Keeping the fans and the team's sponsors interested till the end of the season.

80% of the success at 20% of the cost, if you like.

In the Browns case in the last 3 years, they have made the playoffs once and have been competing for a playoff spot up till the last 2 weeks of the season. From a Moneyball perspective it has been a success. It is also an improvement on what had gone on before.

This will never please American Crow, myself and the rest of the fans. We only want the Browns to win a Superbowl.

But the cosnstant carping of about role of analytics at the Browns ignores the elephant in the room.

What role did analytics have in the Watson trade ?

Spending first round draft picks and an enormous amount of cash is completely the opposite to the Moneyball credo.

We are currently watching the 2022 Mr Irrelevant, Brock Purdie, as QB for one of the Superbowl favorites, that is what you would expect in a money ball scenario.

Depodesta was a spectacular failure in baseball

Maybe they could find an Ivy League graduate who coached middle school track

I am sure he would make a fine defensive coordinator

As for the 11-5 season

Analyze wins against team with above .500 record

Analyze fact they needed a win against a team that laid down in last week of season (and still barely won)

Check similarities with 1994 team

Just because you win a bunch of games against truly horrible teams to squeeze into playoffs does not make it a “success”

It makes you the beneficiary of a cupcake schedule

Happens every 27 years

Sure fix it now

Ehhh guess he is defensive pass coordinator

Damn you Mary Kay

But have to admit—I got to go on a spectacular rant

😎

Nobody any good who has half a brain would touch the job. A failed ex-DC, with an Ivy League degree who will do exactly what Depodesta tells him to do is a PERFECT fit for these colossal idiots.

Sign this guy immediately

He was even worse as a DC in Chicago, gifted the job coz nobody with a brain was taking it working for a lame duck coach in Nagy. Desai is truly awful. Mind blowing that he's even considered. But I guess Depo wants another puppet he can tell what to do hey. Can't have anyone qualified, they might fight back.
