concerned by the comments re the defence.
It’s not contest work when most of their possessions and goals are coming uncontested. Structurally we’re a mess back there. That is the biggest problem. So much space, so many free players. It’s why our inside 50’s against to scoring shots ratio is so high.

Feels like on face value it’s a good way to subtly blame the players, not the structure.

Maybe the “contest” is the running ability of the opposition - constantly running into space and onti dangerous 45/centering balls.

Ok is his ceiling. He doesn’t really possess any above average attributes that make him desirable. Contested ball? Speed? Disposal quality? Goal scoring? He’s an inside player with average ball winning ability and no other desirable attributes. Just not an AFL standard player.

It would be classic North, especially “the Bull” to focus on Webster and lining him up while they break the record for broken tackles and effective disposals whilst tackled in a game.

The Bull can focus on winning his own ball first before he worries about flattening an opposition player and giving away off the ball free kicks which always kill us.
