I think the Strikers recruiting under Gillespie has been poor and probably the main reason the Strikers are struggling. Which compounds the poor internal development in SA cricket in general.

I think he learned the wrong lessons from getting things very right initially with Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle, and just recruits based on weird old-fashioned stereotypes and/or randos he liked from England.

Why did we get rid of Jono wells. It still has me puzzled to this day. His batting was consistent and of a good quality and he was a gun fielder??
They should never have cut Wells. But I think Nielsen could do a similar job, particularly being a keeper there's no worry of 'wasting' a batting spot on the questionable anchor role.

Leaving the one over with a bad bowler til the 20th was the correct call once Evans got going. But that was garbage.

The innings as a whole was an instruction manual on how not to bowl in Perth

Evans was hitting perfectly executed wide Yorkers for 4 and you’re blaming bad bowling? Just a freak of an innings, no one else really got going like that. Of course when your good balls are going for 4 you might be susceptible to some bad balls.

Bazley now has the most expensive figures by a Strikers bowler and off only 3 overs too. And his first over only went for 6 runs.

It's Perth. Getting any bat on a delivery at pace and it will be six or four behind square if it doesn't find a fielder. The Strikers were unlucky not to get early wickets from it, but it wasn't luck that caused non-wickets to go for runs.

I’m not saying Bazley is a quality bowler by any means, but some good balls still went for 4 tonight. Would think big Wes replaces him next game.

Lots of issues with Strikers but four things that need to be addressed.

We have one of our highest paid players in Weatherald dropped again. Unfortunately he still has two more years to go on his contract.

We are just about the only t20 franchise in the world that plays a specialist keeper. We need a keeper who can in the top 5. That changes the mix of our team.

We just don't have wicket takers outside Thornton. Boyce is economical and has to play but he can't take a wicket. That's contributing to Bazely figures who is left to bowl to top order set batsman in the last few overs. I feel sorry for him.

I didn't think we were too bad last last night but overall our strategy has been really poor in run chases. That's on Dizzy

Lloyd Pope added to our squad and named in 15 for tomorrow

Playing the Scorchers again
Surely couldn't be worse.

Even if he goes for runs, he adds some badly needed wicket taking ability.

I agree, if he goes for 20 an over but can take a wicket then it's worth it.

Also may as well try a few different players and see if they are up to it. Start working on a squad for next year.

Exactly, we are not making finals... so let's work out who to keep & who to ditch.

should have put together a squad of district cricketers so we could have spent the whole salary cap on getting rid of Weatherills contract
Surely we saved a heap of cap on Rashid not playing?

Chaudhary seems to be a real find. Embarrassing for all the BBL teams that they didn't pick him up earlier.

Including the Hurricanes who apparently didn't notice he could bowl until this week.

Anyone seen Kaan play at District level? Is he worth a go? Roughly what number would he bat?
Smokes them at Grade level

Very big hitter, destructive

No idea if he can do it against better attacks but surely we're at the Can't do any worse stage
