Revelling in the afterglow of a successful season, the Swamprats gained the services of SpudsLoveChild from the Furies, whilst Butler came in as a rookie and provided excellent service throughout the season. With a full season from Gray Day and the return of Noobz0r offsetting the loss of toxic to the Warriors, greater glory loomed.

The first half of the season, however, did not go as planned. Three losses in the first four rounds caused a rethink, and a shuffle of positions righted the ledger to 4/4 at the halfway point. But from there, the situation further unravelled. An unprecedented feat of three consecutive losses to the team occupying the bottom spot on the SFA ladder sent the Rats into wooden spoon territory. Then a run of 3 wins lifted them into a position where a last round victory over the Dragons would have earned an unlikely finals berth, but all energy had already been expended and the Dragons snuffed out their hopes.

Ant Bear had a standout season, with a runaway Toots Hibbert win, and he and Millky95 both earned a second consecutive All-SFA gong. Gray Day capped his return by winning the Groove award for most goals, and Butler was a shoe-in for the Best Rookie. The season ended with spookism retiring as captain and handing over to Millky95, the first non-Port Swamprat skipper. MannumPower also retired, ushering in a new generation of Swamprats

SEASON 22

The dawn of a new era, as Millky95 took the reins from spookism and became the first non-Port supporting Swamprat leader. Flanked by Cloud_ and Ant Bear, and with the steadying hand of spookism in the background, the new leadership team sallied forth and carved up the SFA , with hardly any league task or thread left unsullied by Swamprat fingerprints.

This was the season of outstanding rookies, with Far Kern continuing the fine tradition of Swamprat EKA runners-up and fellow newbs miggs, sportsmaniac89 and ChristopH all joining in the cacophony as the club continued to raise league standards for match thread posting. Over an 18 game season, the depth and variety of the team was on display for near 10,000 posts with Ant Bear leading the way at over 100 posts per game, and earning the league's MVP award, the beez trophy, as well as the Mobbenfuhrer Medal as league B&F, becoming the first Qootier to achieve this dual feat in a stunning perfect storm of quality activity. Fellow vice-captain Cloud_ clinched the Frankston Rover Medal in recognition by the league of his hard work for the betterment of all, and a new record of 4 Swamprats were named in the prime positions of the All-SFA team, with Alf Andrews medallist Gray Day joining his 3 leaders at the leagues' vanguard.

This dominant off-field exhibition was not reflected in onfield performance. Although at times the team threatened to grab the season by the scruff off the neck and subjugate the league, hovering in and around the top 4 all season, ultimately a three-match losing streak in the middle rounds (aligned with some incredible final round events) consigned the team to fifth spot at the conclusion of the H&A matches, from where they crashed out with an Elimination Final loss to the Dragons. An interesting quirk was the fact that, for the first time in their history, the Swamprats had two draws in a single season, against the East Side Hawks in round 1 and versus the Dragons in round 11.

Ant Bear's outstanding season concluded with his second successive Toots Hibbert Medal for Best and Fairest, as well as the players' choice Macca Medal to add to the league awards of the Mobbenfuhrer Medal, the beez Trophy and All-SFA selection at ruck-rover. Gray Day bagged 83 goals to add the Groove medal to his Alf Andrews medal (at the highest goals per game average in club history), and Far Kern won the Rookie Award and was considered unlucky not to take out the EKA. Despite the middling onfield result, Season 22 would be regarded as the clubs' most successful since the glory days of seasons 5 and 6.

The Swamprats consigned another finals series to history, and embarked on a recruiting spree that netted ex-Wonders Premiership captain Golumless and brought Grav, MaxMinch, Sleezy and NarrowMind as rookies, to offset the losses of miggs to the Bombers (via the Wolves), and stalwart I Dont Care to retirement (via the Warriors). Captain Millky95 revealed himself as a simmer since S21 and Cloud_ continued his amazing workload as the SFA statsman, while the rest of the leaders poured forth into media and games, including Ant Bear's hugely successful SuperQoach game.

A rocky start to the season ensued, as we lost our opening 2 games, but the move of Noobz0r, who had nearly defected to the Bombers before being rescued from rookie hell, into ruck-rover saw the Rats win their next brace and even the ledger. A further hat-trick of losses left the season teetering at 2-5, but big wins over our bunnies the Wonders and the Demons bookended a 4 match winning streak that righted the ledger after playing everyone once. The Swamprats proceeded to lose 3 of the next 4, again leaving a finals position precarious, but managed to win the last two games and charge into 4th spot with a 9-8 record. A qualifying final against the Furies went awry, and we then choked against eventual premiers Baghdad Bombers to go out in straight sets for the first time.

The disappointment was washed away by Noobz0r's joint Mobbs Medal win, with Millky95 picking up a share of the Frankston Rover award at the league's awards ceremony. For the 4th consecutive season, Ant Bear was named All-SFA, for a solid season in the ruck, and was joined in the team by spookism and Cloud_in defence. Swamprats also featured highly in many Media awards, with the top 3 positions in the Qhampion Data algorithm taken by sportsmaniac89, Ant Bear and Noobz0r sportsmaniac89 won his maiden club B&F in a tight tussle with Ant Bear, with Grav tipping out the unlucky MaxMinch for the rookie award and Gray Day winning his third Groove Medal to equal the great man's record; however, the evening ended with the club in turmoil as Millky95 unexpectedly and sensationally retired, and fellow senior Rats spookism, Noobz0r and Golumless also walked out to take the Rats' successful culture to the rescue of other struggling clubs.

SEASON 24​
A new beginning, as Ant Bear took over the hastily-departed captaincy from Millky95. Aggressive recruiting landed philreich from the Demons and gaskin from the Wolves, and in a stroke of fortune SFA legend Dingster fell down a Las Vegas sewer and landed in Sin City. Rookies drazah, bergholt, NEGAN, Louis Slungpue and katmanblue joined, and Fizzler made his SFA return for a third stint. The departures of Noobz0r and Golumless to the revived Gumbies, and spookism to the Hawks weresoftened by the ncreased presence of ShaunDuggan, Butler and MaxMinch/ Cheval.

A disastrous start to Ant Bear's captaincy ensued. The Swamprats lost their first 8 games, in some farcical scenes as time and again we coughed up a lead in a 10 minute period of poor concentration. Coupled with the straight sets exit from the S23 finals, this amounted to a club record 10 game losing streak, as little Owen followed us around crying #sackAntBear. We managed to win rounds 9 and 10, but then strung together another 4 losses to leave us wooden spooners by round 15. Wins in the last two games only eased the pain slightly, as we rocked the chances of some competitors.

Despite the infestation of losses, the Underground remained a fun and upbeat place to be, as we led the league in match thread activity, with the Leadership group of Ant Bear, Dingster, sportsmaniac89, Grav and Cloud_ leading the newer Rats like philreich, bergholt, gaskin and Fizzler into battle. The revival of former Wonders premiership captain ShaunDuggan to prominence was a highlight, as were the continued contributions of stalwarts Power Raid and Quadzilla

The sudden death of rookie drazah in the week of round 10 rocked the team. Many tributes followed, and it united us as never before. The rookie award was named after him at the B&F, which was won by bergholt, with philreich taking out the top honour and Cloud_ taking his first Groove trophy. Dingster's teammanship was recognised by the Captains award, and three Swampies - Ant Bear, philreich and Cloud_ were named in the All-SFA team, in an awards season that was so nearly much better. At the conclusion of the season, Cloud_ embarked on his international travels and ended up in Gold City, while Butler just got lost and ended up drunk in some dumpster. New faces were needed again...but that's next season's story!

SEASON 25​

A wealth of new recruits joined the Swamprats, led by SFA and Baghdad legend ant555, escaping the clutches of HaroLad and attracted by our fun attitude. GotTheGoodes had already accepted a rookie contract at the end of S24, and Dingster then got to work, hectoring a batch of rookies in rickety, Obeanie1, TradeDraft and Bicko and a mystery non-rookie in Firestarter to join us for the new season of promise. We also picked up a couple of strong rookie performers throughout the early rounds, as edgie mistook us for Broken Hill, and sataris followed Cheval home one night. This necessitated the delisting of many expired and inactive players, and left us with our freshest list in many seasons.

However, S25 took up where S24 ended, with a traditional round 1 loss to the Royals just one of 7 losses in the first 8games, as we sat in familiar territory of cellar dwellars up till round 10. Only a round 3 win over the reigning premiers Bombers prevented a front half whitewash, and it didn't look much better in round 9, as we lost an illegitimately simmed game against the Gumbies, to briefly be 1-8. But the win on the resim sparked our season to life, and we then won 6 of the next 7 to finish the regular season in 7th. We took that momentum, and rolled with it through the Furies in the elimination, the Wonders in the Semi and the Hawks in the Prelim, and entered the Grand Final against sentimental favourites the Roys. That thread was the most memorable in league history; a thing of beauty stretching over 180 pages of mayhem, wonder and battle, but we couldn't quite pull off the miracle win, and bravely accepted the runners-up cup.

Once again, we led the league in both posting quality and quantity, with impressive newcomer GotTheGoodes racking up a club record of 412 posts in the Grand Final thread, but captain Ant Bear's consistency saw him take out the posting title for the sixth consecutive season. He also won a third Toots Hibberd edal for B&F, equalling the record of crazy_big_al, while Dingster took out the Groove award for the club's leading goalkicker, and GotTheGoodes was the unanimous choice for best rookie, despite strong debuts from rickety, sataris and edgie, and a cameo GF performance from Obeanie1. We were suitably rewarded on Mobbs Medal night, with Ant Bear's work for the league behind the scenes rewarded with a Frankston Rover Medal, and Dingster tying for the Fred Medal. Once again, three Swamprats in Ant Bear, Dingster and sportsmaniac89 made it into the All-SFA team, all of which equates to a successful SFA Season 25. With the departures of ShaunDuggan, after 119 club games, and Cheval, after 53, new blood was needed for the next chapter.
