Ham is also out of contract and among a group of Bombers who will have to wait longer to know about their futures at the club.

The 23-year-old wingman has spoken to two rival Victorian clubs and is yet to be offered a new deal at the Bombers, where he has played 45 games over four seasons. The left-footer played 11 games this year, although five were as the medical substitute.

Better clubs than us will have identified that he can fit into a system, has significant strengths and weaknesses that are pretty easily masked.

we’ll see - not wanting to put your head over the footy is a hard weakness to mask.

He needs to get to a baseline of acceptable intensity at the contest - maybe another club can draw that out of him. It’s a tough thing to develop though.

Melbourne wanted him last year, it seems multiple clubs are sounding him out now. That’s enough for me to think that if you combine his tools with all those good club things like an actual on field structure, elite strength and conditioning and a defined role that there’s a handy player in there.

He wouldn’t be the first player to be identified by a good club and brought in from a club that is in the s**t to do a job for cents on the dollar.

His inability to stick a tackle is glaring as well.
