Good to see Mase finally start to have some consistency & flourish under a new coach.

It’s a shame he no longer plays for us, always rated him but he was always an ‘almost’ type of player under our system. Ross will use him well, hope he can string a whole season of it together.

Always rated him

Judged too harshly by this board

Players who are talented eg this guy and sleevo etc
You back them in
CT too. It didnt make sense at the time and it looks even worse now. The bloke is a good player at worst and a genuine match-winner at his best

We hurt ourselves cutting him at the time. That's life though and we've got Zurhaar, Taylor, Ford and George all fighting for that half-forward/third tall spot.

TBF though, it really was best for him to leave
He really needed a clean break

I haven't watched a St. Kilda game this year. Is Mason is playing with more confidence and courage than in his latest years at North?
Only saw him last week against Dockers… looks much more confident

Mase has always had all the talent… the away win over Sydney a few years back he single handedly won us the game. We never had the coach or support staff to get him right between the ears. Whether it was confidence, effort and desire, concentration, or something else, we just couldn’t get him firing.
It is not too dissimilar now with Jayden Stephenson and Tarryn Thomas atm. Meaning the match winning physical talent is obvious, but they may require extra assistance in other areas. We need our coaches and support staff to get them firing

Still of the opinion it was the right call for everyone, some people just need a fresh start to wipe the slate clean and start building upwards from the beginning again. He frequently looked distressed or despondent, and things just stopped clicking for him on the field. I'm glad he fought for a lifeline (one I didn't think he would get) and that he's doing well, but it does make me feel a bit melancholy it's not with us because he showed so many beautiful glimpses over the years here.

He has been absolutely electric to start the year; just racking it up at will on the wing, connecting on line breaking passes by foot, and consistently threatening the scoreboard. On current form would be the best wingman in the league and it's not even close. What a turnaround, gotta be happy for him!

regularly covering the most kms out of all players is lazy?
He's a fantastic runner, always has been. You can jog up and down the ground all you want but if you don't go when you need to, you achieve absolutely nothing.

Glad he's turning it around, but he was nothing more than a cocktease for us.

He tore Sydney apart and it was a thing of beauty. Great to see him doing well.

I don't think any of us begrudge him meeting his full potential and having success. He was always likeable and it's genuinely a good news story that he's doing well. It just wasn't meant to be with us - he had to leave to have any chance of reaching the heights of his potential.

It wasn't happening under Shaw with his defensive game style that meant any creative differences we had were nullified by long kicks to a stoppage every time. That included Mase. There was very little, if any, excitement in how we were playing except when Daw returned and when we played pretty well in the first two rounds.

It just... wasn't meant to be. Jeez it's pretty crazy reflecting on how much crap we've put up with for 3 seasons.

He even said in the interview with Dullard Darcy that moving on was best for both him and NM. He was holding onto every performance and putting pressure on himself. Said Ross has simplified the game and his role and is finally enjoying his footy again.
Had all the talent in the world and the running ability, size, hands, and field kicking to be a fantastic winger. I'm rapt for him tbh...
