Ricky Petterd was taken by the Tigers in the 2012 Rookie draft (originally picked up by Melbourne at pick 30 in the 2007 draft).
Ricky is one of a host of mature age recruits for the Tiges this year.
After only managing four games in 2012, he was delisted by the demons.
He originally played in the forward line at the demons, where his dynamic movement made him a dangerous forward option. However, Dimma may see him more suited to a role in defence at the tigers and he impressed off the half back flank in the intra-club match last week.
He is a big chance to be upgraded from the rookie list to the senior list and he is one of those real X-Factor type players that may provide a bit of spark for us at either end of the ground.
STRENGTHS
Petterd is noted as a courageous player
Very mobile player and a nice height at either end of the ground, he could prove to be a difficult match up.
Has a good pair of hands and dynamic, unpredictable (in a god way) movement with the ball at his hands.
WEAKNESSES
There have been questions about his injuries and while some say he is "injury prone", he has just had a bad run of luck. If he strings a few senior games together he may be able to iron out a few deficiencies in his game.
Also has some question marks on his goal kicking.
INJURY HISTORY
2007- Against carlton in round 14, he went down in a pack, puncturing his lung. With no time to be taken to hospital,In the change rooms the Melbourne doctors had to puncture his chest wall to allow air to escape.
2008- Suffered a lengthy groin injury
2010- Dislocated shoulder after a promising 2009 season (18 games, 19 goals)
He's pretty good at catching!
And we're all hoping if he moves to the back line we'll see a bit more of this desperation:
