Our bye is now 4 weeks away. I wonder when they’ll start giving us some updates on how Hewett is doing - he’s been listed as “post-bye” for over a month now without any indication of how he’s progressing.
Bazzo in a similar boat, we haven’t heard a thing about where he’s at for the last 6 weeks...
12 months ago Dewar was struggling to find his feet in the WAFL, having a handful of touches every game and maybe kicking a goal every 2-3 games as a small forward. You could tell he had talent but looked like he was a long way off even being close to AFL ready.
Fast forward to early in his...

Interesting interview with Reuben on ABC (starts at 17:20). Talks about his current role in the team, the workload of playing on the wing vs inside and his injury last season.
Was also quite honest about his season...

Full interview with Petch can be found here (skip to 12:15 into the show)
Actually speaks quite well, offers some good insight. Certainly sounds like he’s matured a fair bit in his time at the club
Shuey areas unfortunately. Still impacting games when he’s out there but his body is failing him.
Seems to happen quite often to these explosive, burst type mids late in their careers
Adam Simpson mentioned last week that he had hamstring tendinopathy. I’m far from an expert in this area but this doesn’t sound like the usual sort of hamstring strain, but maybe something that requires a different form of management.
So while we're in a pretty good position now with 37-39 (pending Barrass & Reid) out of 44 players available, this is about as good as it'll get before Round 11.
Any injuries we cop in the next month won't be offset by players returning from injury so we might start to see the unavailable...
Didn't mean for that post to come across as writing him off, just a bit concerned about how his confidence levels would be after that game. He just looked particularly despondent after kicking his goal. I wouldn't have expected him to beat Reidy going in, but it was a very one-sided battle all...
WAFL Round 4 vs Peel Thunder: 23 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 inside 50s, 2 marks
Most of the Beagles side lowered their colours on the weekend but thought JJ was one of the better performers. Some good defensive efforts and although he wasn't as clean as last week, still had a positive impact...
Must admit I was quite concerned about Barnett after Saturday’s game. Was just completely and utterly dominated by Reidy, lost almost every ruck contest in the third term when Peel were just waltzing it out of the centre. Outbodied and outplayed.
Kicked a late goal but his celebration (or lack...

Jamaine Jones the best AFL-listed Eagle on the ground according to Horsley. Nice to see after some struggles to start the season from him.
Also interesting to hear about Jordyn Baker's game - by the eye he wasn't great...
The old “formula” they used last year and at start of this year was just finding the 3 players who got the most spoils in each round and allocating votes that way.
Player who got the most spoils in any game got the 3 votes, next most got 2, then 1.
They’ve only just changed it to Hammer’s new...
The boys call Jake Waterman “the loosh”
No idea where the nickname came from but I’d imagine Ginbey was saying “Loosh’s performance” instead of “Lucius’ performance”
WAFL Round 3 vs East Fremantle: 25 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 inside 50s, 4 marks
A much improved performance in the WAFL from JJ. Worked his way into the game nicely, defended well and importantly was tidy with his ball use. Hopefully he takes confidence from this game and can get his season back...
My impression of Johnston in the WAFL preseason games was that while he clearly had natural ability and skill and was getting to the right places, he just seemed to lack a bit of composure and hadn't adjusted to the pace of WAFL yet - would often miss fairly simple kicks and handballs, seemed...
It's snuck up on us a bit, but easy to forget it's now been over a year since Liam Ryan played a game of football.
By the time he makes his return on Sunday, it'll have been 378 days since his initial hamstring tear in that calamitous derby in Round 3 last year. A longer period out than what...
Anyone able to access the replay of Saturday's WAFL game?
Couldn't catch it live so have been meaning to watch the replay, but the AFL website hasn't uploaded it yet. There's some extended highlights but I was keen to see how Johnston, Sheed, Gaff, Trew, Culley etc went over the full 4...
Round 4 vs Sydney: :crossmark:
After a shaky game against the Dogs JJ was dropped to travelling emergency duties. Let's hope this is the wake up call he needed and he can build some form from here.
