Wouldn’t have been done by a designer. They’re a small league and have no money. Whoever in the office with some mild skills, or a volunteer, would’ve done it. They had to rebrand to include netball in the name and that’s what’s been turned out.
They're just not good enough. Had a bad night tonight but certainly not a bad side... but this isn't a premiership side.
Probably a finals side who, if they really play out of their skin, can challenge anybody.
But across a whole season and finals series... they're just not an elite side.
The top guys are a fairly small group. They charge you or me an arm and a leg, but they do high-profile cases at a significant (sometimes massive) discount as it is basically free advertising for them. Keeps their name in lights and ensures a steady stream of clients paying full freight to be...
I don’t know if the rules have changed but you couldn’t field a 19s side in the past and forfeit reserves, just like you couldn’t field a reserves and forfeit seniors.
You had to play seniors, then reserves, then U19s as numbers allowed.
Yeah I hear ya. It is a very narrow path to tread between being seen to excuse offenders, and genuinely addressing root causes.
So it doesn't get addressed - the wider you go with a message, the less complexity and nuance you can include. So politicians are the kings of this. They know they...
We don’t have to accept it and most often we shouldn’t, but people aren’t born angry, full of rage or violent. We are products of our environment.
Poverty and inequality are major drivers of crime and violence. When people are surrounded by s**t they start tearing it down.
Alcohol and...
As for Emerald, an $8k fine suggests it was a minor breach. Could well have been an administrative error where somebody was overpaid. The penalty tells you what you need to know, if they were seriously rorting they would’ve copped a lot more.
Can remove the “AFL” from your headline.
The business of news fundamentally changed with the internet. In print form publishers and advertisers had a “sense” of what was popular and drew readers, but they never actually “knew” - people bought the paper, then who knows how they consumed it...
Feel like this is a very select group of players, and I wonder as to why.
I’m not talking about great players who are underrated. I’m talking about great players who people DO rate correctly, yet for some reason they never get much of a mention.
Say somebody is listing superstars… he forgets...
Of course it is, and we need to get moving on the immediate solutions right now, as I said.
But violence is a symptom of deeper problems like anger and rage. It’s very societal and economic.
For the first time in this country as we know it (since European colonisation), we are handing the next...
There's both short term and long term things that need to be done about this.
Short-term the focus needs to be on protection, which means our judicial systems taking violence seriously and prioritising protection of victims. So many of these offenders have violent histories... we can very, very...
One of those “not a great system, but the best we have” things I reckon
We have the VAFA as an example… plenty are getting paid under the table, and it also just means the currency comes in other forms - in the VAFA case networking etc, which just means the big only get bigger.
In that sense...
The moralising media s**t me up the wall. They don’t give a flying heck what happened to those girls. It’s all about clickbait, they’ll dump a world of s**t on anybody at all if there’s clicks in it.
Shocking behaviour but doesn’t have the shock factor and shared video aspect of the Glen Waverley issue. Think they’ll be okay.
s**t it’s hard though. Stuff like this used to involve stern conversations and a few phone calls. Now clubs which are built and run b my hard working volunteers are...
It’s simply the structure of the league. You have to put out seniors and reserves (U19s are apparently optional, though they never used to be).
It’s not fair on other clubs if you don’t. You’re entitled to expect the opposition to field a team.
Perhaps it’s in the rules that you can rock up to...
Funny suggestion on SEN this morning
Both captains meet the umpires in the middle
If both want extra time then play it
If not it’s a draw
Crowd going nuts cheering or booing for the decision
Would be great
You don’t get an additional point for every club, you just get one extra point if you’ve been at three or more clubs over 3 years. So guys like Prime Train hit three clubs and don’t then get more points for each game.
So it’s your basic rating (up to 6 for an AFL player)
Plus
one point...
Goldstein has been good but isn’t exactly a long term recruit.
McKay is the one for me. He is a huge presence and has changed our team. He guards the gorillas and is also a great interceptor.
I thought he was just a big lug and I was okay with that as we needed a big body. Had no idea how good...
