And there's not really, once you embrace this kind of culture, the line just keeps creeping further and further from football success being the primary priority.
Doesn't it though? Where is the line drawn? If it's ok to miss to do a school run, surely there's other reasons that players may request some flexibility. What would they be, or are you that simple that you believe only school runs are a valid reason?
Tex is looking like a high level year is beyond his 2025 body. But big years from Fog and TT would be enough, our issue remains playing Laird and Crouch in the middle and cooked seniors like Smith.
Basically suggests that we think we're a piece or 2 away from contending for a flag during the next 3 years. I don't think we're that close, although surprising results are being thrown up around the place.
You'd have to think it's just to get ahead of the queue. Being UFA, there's no need to frontload to try and avoid others getting him in the PSD. So the only purpose it can serve is to entice the player.
To be fair to Smith and Laird, they didn't get to where they are by progressing through those steps. They were quality performers for us. That we allow them to plateau and phone in performances at this stage is definitely a major issue though.
Not sure it’s that unlikely. Extending Nix being happy for Tex to miss a meeting due to a school pickup, where does the flexibility stop? Is it just Tex that can be late, or is it common across the group?
From memory a lot was made about our performances against the top 4. 2 close losses to Pies, a win and close away loss against Lions. Wins against Port plus a close loss against Demons away.
I think you’re going a bit early on where Pies and Lions are at. But we’re performing about where we have this year. Going ok, just not quite good enough.
And again, Nivks is an ok coach that can get a decent list to finals. He just doesn’t have the intelligence and edge that it takes to...
But we need to consider more than just a game or half a game. Murphy is a known dud, as is McHenry. Even though every now and again they go okay, we need to consider their overall involvement.
the question that I'd like answered is whether shape holding is mutually exclusive from winning the ball and inputting positively with ball in hand. Is there a maximum amount of possessions that a player can have whilst still maintaining enough 'shape'. If we could recruit prime Cyril, would...
