    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

I think his best footy has been winning one on ones against an opponent so gets shoved forward because no-one else is any good at it. Perhaps they think that he's not as effective at clearance work? You hope that they see him at least being a part time mid though. In his first game he burst out...

    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

Had some Pies supporters over last night and they were saying Lyon is like the last 2 years of Buckley where everything is around defending. It's fine if you are getting rewarded but a dour game plan without wins is extremely demotivating and eventually effort drops away.

He came right up the field yesterday, ignored the open guy running past and bombed it straight to a Hawks defender. I wish he had stayed home in the goal square

They only people wanting in to the Saints are Rory Lobb types who will get superstar money to take up cap space.

Stavro suggested he thought that we would be challenging in 2025. If we are still rebuilding for the 15th year straight and the fans are meant to buy in… Jesus. This is a hard footy club to follow.

    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

Bonner has been okay imo. Had one shocker game. The biggest issue is that he’s probably 5th or 6th in our B and F right now and he was a delisted s**t truck from a middling side. We really lack top end but also mid career depth players and guys on the cusp of stepping up to be the core in that...

That's quite funny from you. I always think of you as the Gerald Whatley of the forum.

    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

Wilson looks the goods so far. Owens, Phillipou on the verge of looking like they might not be as good as we'd hoped. Windhager looking solid. After that Shoemaker looks like the best hope. Garcia and Hastie look like decent depth too. I'm starting to feel sick at the thought that another lot...

How is he copping anything apart from saying that he has flaws in his game. Do you think he's elite?

Memberey is a senior citizen that looks close to the end. It's like saying that Henry played great because Seb Ross wasn't any better. If you hold them up as the gold standard you never get anywhere.

    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

Melbourne was 9 years prelim to prelim in their embarrassing rebuild. We are 14 years since we were seriously in line for a crack at a flag and look another 5 years off building a list for it. And that's if everything we do is a win. A few more blown first round picks and we are in trouble.

You won't get any argument from me about playing kids. Sincs needs to move on ball more because there is no-one else ATM. Bonner is not as bad as people make out. He's serviceable apart from his turn over game.

Which looks great but like all of our other forwards he doesn't hold the ball inside 50 or work hard enough without the ball.

But piling games into them should get a boost at some point. They are at the danger of losing them all or having over pay to keep them but at least talent can be traded out for more picks or existing talent. The worst situation is when you are over paying GOPs like we were.

    Autopsy Round 9, 2024: Hawthorn v St.Kilda

Richmond have Hopper and Taranto who at their best are close to elite though. We have Crouch and Dow who are both a step down. Baker, Prestia and Ross etc. There is more talent there just most are consistently injured.
