Manchester United: Where to next?

He's a twat and always will be. His buying of United was only for greenwashing/his business. If he was such a United fan then why did he try and buy Chelsea.
Because he’s a billionaire, he buys sporting clubs and Chelsea were put up for sale? This is like you thinking SJR supports Nice/Lausanne-Sport, the City owners support City/Melbourne City/Genoa/Mumbai City/Palermo/New York City, Glazers support United/Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 😂

It might come as a massive shock to you but there are people out there that support one club but have bought another club that plays in the same competition.

The process will be: understand the facts not the hype and then try and come to a fair decision on the basis of values which is basically is he a good guy or not, and answer could he play sincerely for Manchester United well and would we be comfortable with it and would the fans be comfortable with it.

All the facts about Mason Greenwood are out there already. United are attempting to kick the issue down the track in the hope that the fans and their women's team come round to him coming back to the club. It's not going to happen.

He's having a good season for Getafe. The best United can hope for is that another European team step in who are willing to pay a transfer fee.

The bolded bit is why he's making these comments. The waters have already been tested and that door has been slammed shut.

They can't get a decent fee for him if they're announcing to the world that he has no future at the club.

Honestly still cant believe he is even contracted there. His contract should have been terminated almost immediately. Terrribly handled by United right the way through and now they are still trying to find a way to get him back in the team. It's gross.

They aren't but they should be.

I'd be incredibly surprised if they are trying to get him back in the team now. They were for sure under Arnold and Joel Glazer.

He makes a very good point but using that as a way to get United a free or heavily subsided new stadium is a bit rich.

SJR is going down a dangerous path here.

Imagine if the government says ok - we'll build a new stadium. But because it is a publicly funded stadium it needs to be built with multiple uses in mind. Eg athletics, rugby, NFL, concerts etc etc. End result is a new stadium but not a dedicated football stadium, sort of a bigger version of London stadium.

SJR would then look like a bit of a dick knocking that back and demanding a football specific stadium for use just by Utd. Which is simply not realistic when it is publicly funded. also, Everton are just about to finish off a new stadium and funded it privately. If Utd get a stadium funded Everton will come cap in hand also.

Simply not a realistic possibility of a new stadium being built specifically for a club to be publicly funded. With naming rights of the stadium plus individual stand naming rights and increased revenue Utd could easily pay off a new stadium within a reasonably short timeframe (say 5-7 years).

The US model of government paying for stadia is ridiculous and shouldn't be replicated elsewhere. Ratcliffe can't lose really and what you've described is Spurs stadium. I'll be there in a few weeks to watch Saracens play Harlequins.

Spurs stadium isnt suitable for Rugby (not long enough) and athletics. Enjoy your self pouring pints while you are there!

London Stadium is the more appropriate comparison. Can be converted for athletics use, also long enough to suit Rugby. Don't think United fans would take too kindly to being offered an 80000 seat version of that even if it were to be publicly funded.

Do you honestly believe that it's that easy for clubs to just rip up a contract?

Either loan him or put him on gardening leave until his contract expires. The reality is clubs in England are very unlikely to pay a fee for him or even sign him on a free transfer after all the publicity.

The door has been slammed shut for a reason. The evidence that led Greenwood being charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm was publically available. It's why the United women's team and Rachel Riley said he needed to be expelled from the club.

United conducted an internal investigation into the events. The alleged victim did not participate in the inquiry. The panel went with Greenwood's 'alternative explanation' for the charges. United have continued to double down on this line. And now Ratcliffe is questioning the 'facts' and whether Greenwood is a good guy or not.

No difference between United and Getafe if we’re being honest. United were prepared to keep him until they faced backlash. They loaned him out in the end but it was for the wrong reason.

Now apparently they think getting value for him is more important than making a public stance against him.

Twisted club and there’s some pretty sick people behind the wheel there.

The usuals are unhappy. We must be doing something right.
Man City must have been nearly perfect over the last 15 years if that's the criteria were going to use.

Mate. I get the point on athletics but they play rugby at spurs stadium 2-3 times a season involving the biggest clubs in the country.

People only talk about your club in the FFP cheating thread on here and in regard to your clubs cheating in real life.

Thanks, Frank. I can't believe that I'm only just now hearing about this.

When you open the link and read what he said I see no issue with his intended approach.
Get the facts, ignore outside information and make a decision. Seems prudent for a new owner.
He doesnt want a stadium for the people of the North.

And people of the North want their tax money spent on more useful things than a vanity project of a tax exile.
Rumour has it they want a giant wall to keep out the undead (Scottish). Maybe Mason could leave United in disgrace and defend the wall ;)

Yes.

Outside of the 115 charges, you can say that City have been nearly perfect over the last 15 years.
With the amount of bitching that goes on about 115 charges, that has to be our best work to date.

I'm liking this new criteria for success.

Thank you, but I can only take so much confirmation that we're doing things right.
