Traded Brodie Grundy [traded to Sydney for #46 and F2]

So you dont rate Grundy for all those reasons.. yet you think the dees should get more than what they paid??
p33 + future 3rd is WAY overs and more than what you paid.
Hilarious!
You realise a future 3 is next to nothing right?
Not all trades are the same. You can only trade what you have. Dees probably would've given Collingwood more if we had the picks.

How can you possibly compare the trade with Collingwood 1 year ago and use it to conveniently compare it to the Syd/Melbourne trade. The grundy trade was more about money. Do you know how desperate Collingwood were to get him off the books? Do you know they salary cap space? Are you across all of their books?

Why would Pies n Dees fight it out? Sydney have the onus to get the deals done if they want the players.

If they don’t then players just stay at receptive clubs and Sydney end up with egg on face.
Egg would also be on our face. We don't want that spud in Grundy at our club another year. Rotting away in the vfl.

P33 is a pretty s**t pick for a player you are courting heavily and will pay 650k a year for.

Is Sydney serious or not is the question here
You paid pick 27 for him on 650K last year. There is not a lot of difference between 27 and 33. You can't give the Pies a "pretty shit pick" for Grundy one year and then expect a better one the next year. After all, you set the price in the first place!

Righto, so, if you had say pick 15 too, the conversation would have gone:
Melb: How about pick 27 for Grundy.
Pies: OK.
Melb: Actually, we really like Collingwood, so you can have pick 15 instead if you want.

LOL from the few games you saw? You mean the 27 possession, 10 clearance, 10 inside 50's monstering he gave you in the finals?

would've been AA if not for Grundy in the first half of the year.
As Leigh Matthews pointed out, Gawn kept kicking the ball directly to us. Almost felt like he was playing for the Pies. 1696989891115.png

Can anyone explain Barrett's wild comments this morning about the deal?

Pies have a say in how much is being paid of the contract if he gets traded to a new club?

So Swans can't trade for Brody Grundy with 250K per year paid by the pies? Instead trading for the full contract and could negotiate with Melb if they want to pay some of his salary?

This is a pretty big deal if true, completely tanks Grundy's value.

I think it was suggesting Pies could voluntarily increase the subsidy to assist with the Adams trade.

Wright was clear we have to honour the deal as it stands but he'd likely agree to that variation.

This chat is full of delusion that a player has risen in value in a year where he played in VFL….

Pick 33 is absolutely market value. Find a single independent who disagrees.

He played more senior games and kicked more senior goals in 2023 then in 2022

He had a longer riskier contract in 2022 then he does in 2023

He was pushed out in 2022 where as Dees happy to hold in 2023

He had injury clouds in 2022 where he is fit in 2023

But yeah, worth more in 2022 right? Lol

Less AFL games / goals + injury clouds + riskier contract + being pushed out = higher value to some in here.

Comical

Tom Morris reporting that melbourne will clear out 1.4 million of salary cap space this trade period to go shopping with in future years

I swear less than a month ago there was a barrage of Melbourne fans saying they don't need cap space? And its of no benefit?

Where have they gone?

I am here.

So what’s the benefit of that 1.4M? Whose our target genius?

How is that cash sitting in a bank account going to help our on field performance in 2024?

When in history have the Dees gone out and got a player to pay 1.4M to in the trade period?

And before you say we can pickup for 2025, we have Tmac/Brown/Tomlinson who also out of contract would give us another 1.2M next year if we have any new targets. (Which we have never in our history brought in players that demand that alone in an off season, let alone combined 2.6M).

I will repeat, we do not need the cap space in 2024.

whats the point in future years when our time is now? makes no sense. Steven May probably only has a couple years left.

We have never brought in any player or collection of players in an off season which would demand 1.4M let alone 2.6M (Next year once Tmac/Brown and Tomlinson contracts end).

People on here seem to think we can log onto Amazon.com and search “key forward” and run a filter by cost expensive first and order one in for 2024.
