Your Roughie 2011 All-Australian Player

Pick your teams 'roughie' to improve enough to be an All-Australian contender next year. As it is a roughie, players like Watson and Fletcher would be inelligible as I think they both were short-listed last year.

So from Essendon I'd love to say Hurley, but feel he is probably a year or 2 away. So while I admit this guy isn't overly rough, my roughie for All Australian from Essendon is:

Tayte Pears.

I feel it is just a matter of time with Pears, and if he gets his body right I see him being up there with the best CHBs in the game. Here's to hoping!

Cotchin is another who looks ready to rumble next season. Sylvia and Boak might break into the top class as well.

From the Swans: I'd tip Malceski to make the actual team based on his 2010 form and he is absolutely tearing pre season training apart. Not really a roughie though considering the depth in defenders and the fact he has made the 40 man squad twice already. Goodes will probably be thereabouts again. So Jack would be the popular choice as a roughie and rightly so. Maybe McGlynn as another roughie.
