Following on from the 'Kurt Tippett' thread, which seems to be about anyone other than he himself, perhaps we can settle this once and for all:

Who do you want this trade period, Clark - the almost-All-Australian who never kicked goals and is or isn't worth pick twelve - or Schulz - the guy whose stats show how good he was this year but doesn't get the love he deserves from those condescending Crows fans? Apparently, they're both on the table.

Meh it it's potato vs potato just depends on how you say it.

In all seriousness though Clark. Schulz has been a spud for years and only becoming an ok player now. Clarkes younger and certainly been better at corresponding stages of their careers and probably will be in the long run too.

Schulz for me. Takes more marks. Kicks more goals.
Has passed Clark by as a player - which four years ago I don't think anyone would have believed.

2.8 compared to 2.6 goals a game, not much in it considering Melbourne was very ordinary in the first half of the year, Port were a much better team back then.

How can you say Clark is the better leader? Every time Schulz goes for a contested footy he pretty much leads with his spleen.

Shulz is probably the most underrated KPP in the comp today.

42 goals from 15 games is only a minor edge over 29 goals from 11 games. But when you look at the marks 102 marks to Schulz in the 15 games against 53 marks from 11 games from Clark and the edge becomes more clear.
Schulz even had the higher accuracy + tackle count per game.

Neither team was fantastic this season so the games won matters very little.

If Fevola can kick 99 goals in a bottom of the ladder side and J.Riewoldt can win the Coleman in a poor team sometimes it just comes down to one guy being used more than another as a forward 50 target.

Clark was used plenty when he was in the team and was really that sole target inside 50. It was really when he went out injured that the Melbourne forward structure felt better balanced and guys such as Howe, Blease and Green started to impact the scoreboard.

Schulz on the other hand played in a more balanced forwardline was still able to produce these better numbers relative to those of Clark makes his production even more impressive in comparison.

Definitely Clark. Mainly for the intangibles he has brought to Melbourne.

Before he came, we were a rabble.

More so.

Schulz, who is the Clark guy?
Im guessing he is some averaged and cocky player playing for way too much money.

And this bloke

I live in SA and I've watched Schulz play several times this year and I've also driven to Melbourne and watched Clark several times too and based on what I've seen I believe Clark has a greater influence on the game. If you look at stats they're both pretty even but given what Clark has to work with (the odd stray kick forward from Nathan Jones and maybe a floated entry from Jeremy Howe after he's taken a hanger outside 50) I think Clark is the better player. As I said before, I'm not saying Schulz isn't a good player, I just think Clark offers more.

Melbourne are a shit team obviously but it's not as if Schulzy has Judd, Cousins & Kerr shoving it down his throat. Until this season Clark hasn't shown a great deal up forward. At Brisbane he was a pretty good player and apart from 11 games this year, he still is only "pretty good" in my book. He'll need to back up that form in 2013. I reckon he will too. He's the #1 target there while Schulz is often pushed up the ground for a bit to make way for Brett Ebert :D
