Who the Hell is Barry Brooks

Port picked him up in last years draft with pick #15... many expected him to go within the 1st 10 picks but Port were very stoked when he was still around at #15.

Played in the Tasmanian league and many reguarded him as the best big man in last years draft.

19 years old, 199cm tall, not sure on weight, very mobile, strong in the air and can easily kick goals from outside 50m.

Has played pretty much every game for the SANFL team North Adelaide as a backup ruckman (due to their #1 ruckman being one of the better in the SANFL).

I realise to Saints supporters giving up 2 picks (1 1st round) for an unknown and untried young player would seem rather crazy, I believe you guys are still getting a very good deal.

Adding Brooks to your young team will give you young players in most of the key positions.

Read the Port Adeliade Board about losing him

they are absolutely livid

apparently they are justifying it by saying too many big men and at least the got pickett in return

If they compare him to pickett he muct be pretty good
 
Im shattered at losing him. I dunno why we would trade him.

He is a development player so he wont be ready to play until 2004 minimum, most likely 2005 he will be physically ready to play.

He is a Justin Longmuir/Brad Ottens type - can play forward and ruck.

To me this is the most baffling trade I've ever seen. Everyone at Port expected big things of this boy; he didn't set the world alight in his first year but he's only 18(19 in Dec) and hasn't played AFL at all, only most of the SANFL season. Someone on the AFL Bigfooty board said St Kilda traded pretty much the same draft picks they got for Spider. Is this right?
 
Personally, I would have been happy if they only got a tatts ticket for Everitt. To get rid of his bad influence and free up some cap room is enough.
 
For what its worth, Barry Brooks' physique and style of play greatly remind me of Justin Madden.

They got 8 and 24 for Spider and gave Port 8 and 35 for Brooks.

Plus $$$$$, plus image. If he comes good it will have been a great trade.
 
Well, I normally don't post much in opponent's boards - but I am rather upset with the lost of Barry Brooks!

I just like to say - that Barry Brooks is going to missed by myself at North Adelaide Football Club. :( He has played some really good games for us and is a wonderful person, Daniel Hargraves and Lucas Herbert have worked with him with his rucking and stuff so you have a really good player. I still believe he is going to be a Superstar/Household name, just needs to be given a good go! I was happy with him being on the Power's Rookie list, cause I new that North still had him.

He is only a baby so St Klida better look after him! he he ;)
