had produced some more songs? For me it's Dexy's Midnight Runners. Come On Eileen is a brilliant song and it's a shame they couldn't back it up.

They had a few other good songs Jackie Wilson said, Lets make this precious and Geno.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik for mine.

On an unrelated note, did anyone here England's Euro 2004 anthem 'C'mon England' (to the tune of C'mon Eileen).

It became the most annoying thing i'd ever heard while i was over there and has ruined the original forever. It was funny the first time i heard it. After the 600th it became so so annoying.

Jackie Wilson Said was a Van Morrison cover so that doesn't really count.

You should get their "Best Of" album. It is brilliant.

My pick would be MARCY PLAYGROUND. Had a hit with "Sex and Candy", a minor Hit with "Saint Joe", released a great album in 1997 and I haven't heard of them since.

if youd asked me 'whose considered a one hit wonder but shouldnt be?' my answer would be DEVO.

Thank You :)

"Whip It" and "Beautiful World" were both Top 10 hits and "Girl-U Want", "Freedom of Choice" & "Working in A Coalmine" were also minor hits.

You're also forgetting their cover of 'Satisfaction' which is also a handy (if not bizarre) tune of its own right.

Was that cover released in 1974 ?

I remember hearing it a few times but never found out who covered it. Some where along the path I heard it was devo. But have never been able to confirm it.

I'd have to Nominate

The Bureau - Only for Sheep

Top little album.

One member of the band did kick on after they broke up and that was Mick the keyboardist and Paul Wellers sidekick from Style Council

Other worthy mentions

Living on a Ceiling - Blamange

Cool for Cats - UK Squeeze

As for those talking about Dexy's iv'e found their best album is a BBC live Recording Cd . It's Dexy's at their best.

'Satisfaction' wasn't a hit, probably because it was the 'booji (pronounced boogie) boy mix' that was used on the video. Same could be said with their other early releases, 'Jocko Homo', '*********' and 'Secret Agent Man'.

For Dungrene. 'Satisfaction' is from their 1978 album 'Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO', which also included 'Jocko Homo', '*********', 'Gut Feeling' and 'Come Back Jonee'. A Very under rated album.

I loved those Bridgestone ads. It's one of the few times a song WAS NOT ruined by the ad men.

I have the album. Only for sheep (great song) had a well put together video clip as well. Saw it on Countdown.

We owe the Brits when it comes to music. If not for them we'd still be listening to BoneyM etc.

Devo thanks.... I'm still in the dark regarding the cover of 'Satisfaction' released in 1974. Ive done searches cant find it anywhere.

I'd like to get hold of that cover. Cat Power did a cover a couple of years ago it reminded me of the 1974 cover.

'Nightflight to Venus' is a classic. One of my all-time favourite tunes. 'Rasputin' and 'He Was A Steppenwolf' are cool as well.

DEVO made 2 versions. The standard version can be found on their "Greatest Hits' album. The Booji Boy Mix can be found on their 'Greatest Misses' album. Or I can email you the MP3's, but that's about 7-8Mb.
