When the Crows first came into the AFL they played at the old suburban grounds in Victoria, and playing back then at those grounds it was far harder to win away, as the home ground advantage was 2.7 times (in did a study) bigger than Vic clubs have today at Docklands or the MCG.

Moorabbin, Junction Oval, Arden Street, Vic Park et?

Speaking to old Crows players they said Victoria Park and Moorabbin were the most intimidating to play at.

Has to be Victoria Park, i went there as a kid as an opposition supporter and it didn't matter if you were a young boy, those ferals showed no mercy to you if their team (Collingwood) lost. If you won, it was best to shut up until you were well and truly on the way home from that hellhole.

My uncle tells stories of some really violent incidents he witnessed amongst the crowd at Windy Hill during the 1960's and 70's. He's still quite affected by them.

I lived near Moorabbin and as a lad I went there a lot.

It was feral. The worst was an old lady in the outer with an umbrella who stood on a box or something, waving an umbrella and accompanied by her son.

I could always swear with the best of them (and got on the wrong end of the Bentleigh Bashers because of it) but she came up with words and phrases and vitriol I could never have dreamed of.

Happy times. I loved the ground and was disappointed when it got shut down.

Victoria Park easily ranked as the most hostile crowd back in late 70s into the 80s.

Collingwood fans take a home game very seriously..more than others.

Any team that looked like getting on top of them in a match, the atmosphere would soon turn into rage and nonstop abuse from the crowd.

A truly unsettling experience that joint was.

Which shows how much bigger HGA the Cats have than other clubs now.

Moorabbin was the closest & easiest ground to get to for me when I was young. Can recall going with mates to watch games like Saints v Eagles late 80's, you could take your own esky in, get smashed, and mock, deride & abuse Eagles players, and because there were only a few thousand there, the poor bastards could hear every word of it. Best value ever. 😁

You might be surprised at the win/loss disparity Geelong have had at their home vs other grounds this century then. Some other Victorian clubs remain much bigger "home ground heroes" in the modern era.

Geelong also doesn't get to play finals at that venue, and is capped at 9 games per season there. So overall a relative disadvantage.

They've won 4 grand finals this century involving zero games at their home ground nonetheless.

Wrong, they played the 2020 GF at their home ground. And got flayed.

But don't keep us in suspense, show us these supposed stats that you think might surprise me. And show us your source.

I was at that game, I wasn’t sitting at Kardinia Park.

Being someone in my 30's and living in WA I'd have no idea about hostile suburban grounds in Victoria, but one memory for me is seeing Darren Milburn lay Stephen Silvagni the f*ck out at Princes Park and the whole Carlton crowd wanted his head and blood. That was pretty crazy.

Since you're incapable of understanding what a home ground is, I think the data on home vs away venue win/loss records this century would be beyond your comprehension. Do you have a nephew who might be able to help you?

The adults are talking in this thread; confine your rubbish to other threads please.

Yup, Vic Park, closely followed by the beer swilling ferals at Moorabbin, with Princes Park a lagging third.
