One of my favourite politicians, especially for his integrity.

RIP Simon, very sad. He was our number one ticket holder for a while. I remember a family day at the Zoo early 2000’s when Sam Kekovich was MC, Sam was a well known Liberal Party supporter, and they exchanged some friendly political banter as Simon was introduced. Good times.

He was a great supporter and a champion for the North cause in his political realm. Too young to go.

VALE and condolences to his wife Carole and kids who I also presume are North supporters.

Also, one of the few leaders to stand up and say no to the 2003 Iraq invasion when doing so was not the “popular” thing to do.

My old man had more than a few tussles with him in the 80's in Melbourne's West.

He absolutely hated trade unionists, but Simon was a genuine mate of his, despite the run in's and dealings between them.

One of the very few ALP heavyweights he had universal respect for.

Should tell you plenty.
