I recently listened to the MMQB podcast ranking which I disagreed with in a number of areas so thought I would make my own list here and see how it compared. Premise is to rank who you think the top ten quarterbacks will be in the 2019 season, taking into account all of the relevant factors you would in a normal evaluation of quarterbacks (accuracy, arm strength, IQ, mobility, playoff performance, scheme, etc.). Weight them however you like, and it might end up being an interesting discussion.

Past performance is obviously an indicator for 2019, but the purpose of this thread isn't to determine the most accomplished player but just who will be the most productive in the up coming season. To some extent the skill players and coaching around a quarterback are influential on their performance, but feel free to use your discretion as to how much you want to weight that in your rankings I think.

My list is as follows:

1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Andrew Luck
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Russell Wilson
5. Phillip Rivers
6. Matt Ryan
7. Baker Mayfield
8. Tom Brady
9. Drew Brees
10. Ben Roethlisberger

Honourable mentions: Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson, Matt Stafford & Daniel Jones

First four were probably the easiest to determine, after that I think there is a big group of players who are all fairly interchangeable with each other. I'm pretty skeptical of the ability of Brady and Brees to stay on this list for this season, but out of respect to their play last year (in the post-season for Brady and the regular season for Brees) I kept them in there. If I can be bothered I might aggregate all the rankings to see what the consensus is, but that's a big if.

Rodgers/Mahomes the clear 1/2. I trust Rodgers a touch more because he's done it more than one season.

Wilson ahead of Luck because of the arm and durability, and I guess the mobility too. Luck throwing in the cold worries me a touch.

Wentz has all the tools, and I think he started to show late last season that he was understanding it wasn't all about throwing deep, but throwing short is just as important like Brady has done so well. It helps the team out and puts them in easier situations.

It gets tough here. Brady and Brees have clearly dropped off a fair bit, but still have what it takes mentally. Neither looked that great down the stretch, but you'd still take them over the rest I suppose.

Ryan has the accuracy, IQ, enough arm strength, etc. He is really solid all round.

Rivers also dropped off a bit. He has bad throwing mechanics which could begin to hurt him soon.

Watson I would like to have higher but he's a bit of an untamed horse IMO

Garoppolo can easily push into the top 10 if he stays healthy

Brees as I said dropped off a bit. I think he had a left shoulder problem. Also have to take into account he's in the best offensive system in the league, and playing in a dome.
