This seems to be a weird topic. It's mostly gone unexplained.

When I was a kid I used to dislike raw tomato and only eat the sauce but these days I think they're delicious and the slimy bit with the seeds (the boogers) tastes great.

If you're one of those people that can eat cooked tomato sauce but not the raw slimy parts you have tomato booger phobia.

I thought it was something people grew out of but it seems many adults carry this irrational fear of tomato booger throughout their whole lives. To me it just seems like childish behaviour.

Hmmm, I've hated tomato since I can remember, absolutely despise it. But I've never really thought about these "boogers" before, actually, it wasn't until a month ago that I realised they had these boogers when someone was explaining it. But now that I think about it, the big reason why I hated it was the slimy bit, so I assume that's from the boogers bit.

But only recently I tried sundried tomato's. Man, that. shit. is. amazing. Have it everyday now.

Seems like a clear cut case of booger phobia.

Is it the texture? The taste? The look?

Texture and taste. The looks come after the phobias done it's work.

Do you have the same problems with tamatoh's as you do with tomatahs?

Are you sure that many adults have this phobia and it's not just you?

I know of a couple people who have food phobias- ie. they are literally scared of it.

One scared of mayo, the other bananas. Is ****ing hilarious.

Yeah, i hate it. I've even dry-wretched at the sight of it before. I can't even pin it on a bad experience because i don't think i've ever even tried tomatoes in their raw form like that. The look of them puts my stomach in knots.

Got some good ones down at the shop today. The vine ripe ones. Expensive though. At $8 a kilo it's more than $1 a tomato. Next time I'm going to use the self serve checkout :p

Loved Tomatos even when I was a young taker. I felt like the odd one out at school from what I remember because I would eat them whenever given to me.

heirloom tomato or GTFO

Yeah definitely have this.

No issues with pasta sauces, or canned diced tomatoes in a recipe, or any such thing, in fact I really like tomato based sauces.

But I would have willingly eaten raw tomato on probably no more than 3 or 4 occasions in my life, and that was finely chopped cherry tomatoes on a bruschetta with my eyes tightly shut.

When I bite into a burger or wrap and find fresh tomato lurking in there, it genuinely makes me gag. Just the texture is wrong wrong wrong.
