Tom Liberatore has been named as the starting rover in the best midfield in the comp this week. Well other 2nd round draft picks are sitting back at VFL 2s level the son of an all time great of the game is set to make his own impact on the game.

Its sure is an exciting time down at the Western Oval :)

This would have to be the first time I've heard the Western PrelimDogs' midfield called the best in the competition

Except for one thing.... Tom Liberatore is not the biological son of Tony Liberatore. He married Jane when she was a single mother with Thomas. So maybe he won't be a scratcher afterall

If true it probably explains why he's a good 20cm taller than Tony.

The interesting question is: What is the criteria for a kid to be counted as a father/son candidate? I know in Libba's case Tom didn't know any other father for his whole life... but what about if a player marries a woman with grown kids who know their biological father? Or what about if DNA testing proves that an past AFL player is the father of a son that he abandoned as a child?

Modern society is a menagerie of family types, both normal and ****ed up... interesting times...

Tom Liberatore was born in May 1992, Jane was Libbas brownlow night date and had been in a relationship with him for a decent time before then. Libba and Jane were married in 1991 before she got pregnant with Tom. Please explain how she was already a single mother when they got together if her son was born a year after there wedding?

You have to go by legal father otherwise every father-son pick would need to pass a DNA test.

Is she the one in that black and white photo of him?

If so, biologically related to tony or not, if he looks like his mum, he looks just like his dad.

Well I tried to validate what Fishy has just said but couldn't on intewebz,

what I do know is this, my wife worked for the WBD's in the 2nd half of the 90's... we got to know Libba and Jane, we actually went and looked at their home extension in Essendon for some ideas of our own.

I know that Jane was a single mum when she met Libba (who is a great bloke) and that her eldest son was called Thomas. After my wife left the bulldogs in the early noughties we lost touch with them.

If my recollection is wrong (I don't think it is) then I plead the carbon tax defence.

That is just plain garbage.

Check your own family history. With that comment I wouldn't be surprised if your parents are brother and sister.

"That Brownlow was won by me in 1990 - I was married in 1991," he told the Herald Sun.

Liberatore claims there is no way he will give up the medal, and pointed out that he and Jane were together but not married when he won the award.

Now as you can see Tom was Born in 1992, they were married in 1991 in fiji during the off season of 1990/91 well still recovering from a knee reco i believe with lazar vidovic being his best man. They met in the late 1980s and im near 100% sure that she had no children going into this Marriage.

Corrected i stand? Srs thats your reply? May next time you come into a thread and pretend to understand anything about football you will think twice. You know Tyler Durden007 not every flower can say love, but a rose can. Not every plant survives thirst, but a cactus can.

I don't care that you lick windows, interfere with farm animals or occasionally shit yourself. You hang on in there cup cake you're ****ing special to this place, and we all love you !!
