While this has nothing to do with the Barrass trade at all, this is weak.

In the entire history of WC we've lost Chris Judd after 6 years, Brad Ebert after 4, Koby Stevens who couldn't get a game, 27 year old Willie Rioli, free agent Scott Lycett who got a bigger contract. Am I missing anyone?

By my calcs the last flag side had 10 players from outside WA, including Jack Redden and Nathan Vardy who chose to join WC. Luke Shuey, Will Schofield, Shannon Hurn have all retired and still live in Perth and maintain involvement with the club. Being drafted to WA isn't like being written out of Neighbours or Home and Away.

I doubt Brayshaw, Serong, Darcy and Young grew up dreaming of playing for Freo. Likewise Butters and Drew at Port or most of the gun players at GC and GWS.

Pick the best available and back yourself to create a winning environment. Wasn't that long ago Brisbane lost 5 players in one trade period because the club was going nowhere. They now have Neale, Dunkley, Ah Chee, McKenna, Cameron playing for them plus Daniher, McCarthy, Gunston etc all went there.

If the draft is even then use the value of an early pick for multiple selections. Jury is out over Sheezel vs Ginbey + Hewett at this stage but I am OK with the trade. Just one of those guys and a 26 year old B grade player? NFW.
