Re: We have an election

Why would you start this thread and not mention who the candidate is? Unless you were just looking for attention.

Caroline Carnegie has nominated - don't know if there are any others. I'm not running anyone's campaign, although would happily support Caroline.

Tell us about Caroline's credentials and specifically why she would be a better option than any of the incumbents.

I'm sure her and any other candidate's credentials will be articulated in the info distributed by the club. Will be interested to see if there were any other nominations.

So, you are happy to support someone you know nothing about?

Normally I would vote for stability but imo Caroline deserves a seat on the board. She has done great work with the Northerners for years and the last time she ran she was outcast by the Aylett crew because she was opposed to relocation unless there was no other conceivable alternative.

She hasn't been waiting around for a cushy chair and flashy title before she extracts the digit and does something for the club. She is a true North person and would love to see her elevated into a role where she could do even more to help the club.

Does anyone know who's position is up for election?

She is a lawyer by trade and has been doing great work with the Northerners for a long time. She has the smarts, was opposed to relocation and took the tough stand even though it cost her a board spot last time she ran. Someone with morals, ethics, knowledge, experience, connections, works hard and truly loves the club.

Agree Tas. Great north lady from a great north family. More importantly a very smart lady who not only is doing a sensational job running the Northerners, is a very successful solicitor with relevant business management experience across sport. She gets it!

That didn't take long.

Re: We have an election

Classic [attention-seeking] Gokangas.

Of all the posters one could accuse of 'attention seeking' gk is hardly the first to spring to mind.

What's with the antagonism towards gk? He's aware of information, posts about it, and where he has an 'agenda' or 'interest' it's usually pretty transparent. Based on what I know, I have no problem with it. If there's an element of 'inside information', we're not looking at Watergate, or even Chickengate, are we?

FFIW, I'm happy to receive this information and don't care one way or the other if gk has an interest or agenda, so long as no harm is being done. If he does have an interest, it seems connected to a belief that Caroline would be a good candidate. So what?

One of the vacancies has been filled by 7 Eleven Head of Marketing Julie Laycock, who will become the club's first female Director.

The reduction of the Board means there will be two vacancies at the next election and current Board member Will Houghton QC will stand for re-election along with Ms Laycock.

Re: We have an election

geez, that's an impressive resume, and considering when she finished vce, she must be only 29!

A Strathy girl as well. I went out with a Strathy girl for a decade and know quite a few as a result.

That's one impressive CV she's built, working with many teams I support passionately as well. Good luck to her.

I agree. What is it with this antagonism towards GK? As far as I am concerned the OP was a very very harmless post.

Re: We have an election

Thanks for the info GK, is it true that you have spurned RB's attention/affection for you in the past and that is why he is so bitter towards you or is he your secret lovechild whom you have refused to show an interest in?

Those of us who know Caroline are thrilled by her nomination as she would be an excellent addition to our board. Having had dealings with Caroline through the Northerners and privately i am more than willing to vouch for her integrity and work ethic and can assure everyone that she has only the best interests of North melbourne football club and it's supporters at heart.

Me and GK are still very much in love, so far as I know.

Kim, my point was that he could have just told us Carneggie had nominated, not dickteased about it. GK's a great poster, but has form on this sort of stuff.

More than entitled to back whoever he likes, and for what it's worth, I've heard good things about Carneggie too.

'Anything' 'else' '?' ;)
