But that's exactly the point - They're content to take a guy who went higher in mock drafts while having no tricks up their sleeve to recruit well outside of "I heard his name on Gettable early in the year".

If Fox Footy has a player's name as the "best available" up on the screen on draft night, and it's way after their expected draft range, you can guarantee that Carlton or Essendon will come sniffing.

I will never forget the night Essendon "won the draft" because they walked away with:

Scott Gumbleton
Leroy Jetta
Tom Hislop
Alwyn Davey
Bachar Houli (Remembering that they refused to trade him to Richmond and lost him for nothing in the PSD)
Kyle Reimers

What an absolute winning hand.

Also wasn’t Kyle Reimers the one that kicked off the Essendon supplements saga?

Ed on the Ed on Jimmy podcast this week ….

“If Carlton lose this weekend they’ll sack Voss. That’s just how they are” 🤣
They would be correct to do so.

They would be correct to do so.
They should have done it long ago. They're not the sharpest tools in the shed down there.

Almost as good as secret agent Malthouse did.
Almost.

Secret Agent Malthouse set them up for a wooden spoon.

If Carlton lose to WCE this weekend (please let it be so), Voss will be on track for the same outcome.

They are lucky they are playing WC, and not Geelong or the Giants. On top of that, WC have major internal issues with Oscar Allen, bought on themselves. Under any scenario, you couldn't see them beating the Blues, unless they produced what the did in Round 2 against Brisbane, which I highly doubt.

Carlton has major issues, their list is not good enough, we know this, but their list has been molded to an outdated game plan, and that is a much bigger problem. I thought that they would have identified this and perhaps when Kennedy went, they may have traded him for some good runners and ball users. The better teams are transitioning from the back half and scoring heavily from the midfielders and half back flankers, or setting up scores, as Adelaide and GC are doing at the moment. So they have decisions to make with their list, because I cannot see them making finals, which is a waste given their top 6 is high quality. The biggest concern is their bottom 6 - 8, because it is now team defence game, you cannot hide these players, the good sides will expose them, which is what is happening this year more than ever.

And of you look at the ladder, all of the bottom 6 have issues with team defence.
