I never really regretted not having kids. I like them, but I like my solitary, selfish life more.

I do miss having that opportunity to show kids your loves and see them adopt them though.

This was my weekend away seeing my friend and his kids - they're essentially neices - and taking them some Lego to experience. They have a couple of little $20-30 Friends 'sets' but nothing like the Little Mermaid and Frozen jewelry boxes that I'd bought and wrapped for them.

Took them around this morning, they loved the gifts... then this afternoon they decided they couldn't wait to put them together, so I got to sit there watching Miss 7 & Miss 5 falling in love with their Lego sets, seeing them figure out how to put it together, seeing the joy of them figuring stuff out... and then seeing them love them even more because they were able to figure it out and largely build it themselves (or at least feel like they have.)

The Little Mermaid Jewelry Box looks outstanding. Obviously not my aesthetic, but if you have girls in that 4-8 age range it looks bloody excellent, and it's a straightforward build, but challenging enough for a 5yo to enjoy it and feel like she'd earned it when it was finished.

I was in a Sydney Toymate this morning on my way home to Melbourne this morning, they had a clearance table full of 8 or 9 damaged box sets. Some of them were barely damaged, and they'd knocked 33-50% off all of them.

I had to go back to my mates place after, cos I bought his wife an Orchid for $49, his daughter got the BTS Dynamite disco for I think 75 (this box was the most damaged of all of them, and has a warning on the box that you may have to contact lego for missing pieces), and his other daughter got the Moana Boat for 35 bucks.

Totally went overboard, especially when I won't even get to be there to give them to them, let alone what them build them... but that's ok, I had fun with them yesterday.

I nearly bought Great Pyramid for me, but it was still $160, and I don't really need it.

Good prices there 👍.

Currently building the Hogsmeade Hogwarts Express. Actually looks better than I was expecting apart from a few foibles. Not great value at RRP, but if you're a Potter fan it looks like a good addition to the collection. Engine can't be motorised in its current configuration, that may take some modding.

They were really good, and of the 8-9 sets there, probably only 3 of them (including BTS Dynamite) were so severely damaged that they were being held together by tape, and included the note on them to contact Lego for missing pieces.

When I got Friends Apartments here the sticker price for a box that was in similarly beat up condition the sticker price was still $200. I only got it cos I had a voucher and a discount to bring it down to $170 - the clearance prices at this Sydney place were much better.

We don't get much on the way of true clearance pricing here - very occasionally Big W will have one, but that's about all I've seen in recent times.

Toymate is the only place I ever see it, and they're always on clearance cos of damaged boxes - it's just the level of damage to the boxes that's extremely variable based on today's example. From the Moana Boat, that only had a very slight tear on the side, and you probably could've gotten away with selling normally (albeit not to an adult collecting Disney lego), to BTS which, as I said, had a box held together almost entirely by a roll of sticky tape.

Awesome scores. I would have snapped up the Pyramid.
I am still hoping the Collisseum comes back so I can use my $150 off VIP points.
Halfway through the bookshop which I am really enjoying building.
Then have Taj Mahal, haunted house and Hedwig to build with the Great Wave on backorder.

For Lego RC fans, there are reviews of the newly announced Technic Audi e-tron on youtube today.

I think this will probably be my next purchase.

Unless I can get the Batcave Box for under $400 by then, I think that's the price point at which I'll pull the trigger. It'll get there eventually I think, the guy at the Lego store at Doncaster yesterday said they've been selling ok, but not gangbusters.

I think is is going to be around $A300, which is a lot for an RC car - yeah it's more substantial than previous ones, but they were $200 or less, and I think I bought the last one at around 40% off. Does have 3 motors though. Reviews are favourable.

Batbox discounts I think will depend on whether it hits the majors, or if Lego are left with a pile of stock, say, for Black Friday. Won't hurt to wait I don't think.

I get it's a cool build but where the * does anyone store that haha
You need to think outside the box - with the last big red crane I made it an acceptable part of our Christmas display by having it haul a Lego Santa into the tree ;). This one might be tougher though being yellow 😋.

If anybody wants a pile of (new) generic bricks, Classic set 11016 (1200 pieces, RRP $80) is on sale at K Mart at the moment for $35. Buy two and you get free shipping :thumbsu: (That's of course if they don't cancel your order. Stay tuned ;))

EDIT : they claimed to have shipped it, and still have stock online and selected stores.
