McNeil needs to go and never come back. Sanders looks like a boy against men (which he is) needs a big pre season to get some confidence going forward. Really like Freijah and O'Donnell looked lively up forward. Lobb did what Lobb does best - bugger all. We can't compete against quality sides with too many passengers. Need Richards, Naughton, Weightman & Darcy back in to be competitive against good sides.

Brave effort with an undermanned team in our 12th game on the trot, against a team that played 2 and had a bye and then only 9 before another much-needed and well deserved rest.

The umpiring was just as equitable as the fixturing, just a bit unlucky on the night, but that’s show business baby.

There is Bad, Very Bad, Extremely Bad, Diabolically Bad, daylight, more daylight and then Eric Hipwood Kicks 6 Goals Against You Bad.

P*** weak and embarrassing. The opportunity was there to capitalise on the past three weeks and we flunked it yet again.

Coach killer.

Players that should be up for trade or delisted much clearer now.

Season over.

Well, up and down is what you get from a mid table team. Inconsistent on field performance, players off the field… players just not up to it. Outclassed tonight

Meh, second string side gets shown up as a second string side.

In other startling news:

Water is wet and the universe is expanding at 67 kilometres per second.

Worst display of umpiring I have ever seen.. 21-5 frees at one stage. Brisbane surely paid the AFL

To let the MIA most of the time Hipwood flog us is totally embarrassing

McNeil. Seriously mate - Never come back. When we finally get some momentum, misses an absolute sitter from 30 out directly in front. Will never be anything other than a list clogger.

I know we were down some classy players tonight but just abysmal coaching and intensity around the ball at the stoppages.., especially in the 2nd quarter..

Watching that live was excruciating. Outplayed by ourselves and the opposition.

I'd still like to know where those 3 field umpires live though...
The Brisbane supporters around me were even commenting how one sided the umpiring was towards the end of the game.

“We never get a free run like this”

Poor night overall with lots of players down. Obviously we were smashed around the ball but thought structurally we were poor; their talls were constantly free over the back because we outnumbers ahead of the ball with our defenders constantly pushing up in a chain until their free man was inside 50 alone. Tackling was awful too, way too soft and it cost us multiple goals.

Bit disappointed to see more reliance on the experienced usuals with centre bounces. We were beaten clearly but Gallagher, West and Garcia barely had a go

A very very young inexperienced team out there tonight. We are not strong enough to have so many injured or suspended. Our boys weren’t strong enough for their men. They were off their second bye and ran us off our legs. I think we’ll be ok, they have a hardened, well drilled group, they’ve been down but they’re too good to be down too long. They were moments off a premiership 9 months ago.
Jed Busslinger must now come in. Like Cleary’s balance would be helpful too. Libba wasn’t back to his best yet.

Well that was pretty Shyte for most of that game. The lack of fight and effort stood out, as did our weak tackling. We are simply too nice out there abd we don’t tag. Umps did not lose that for us, but they definitely favoured the lions in that one.

Ugly night all round.

I don’t wish for this to sound like excuses, because it’s not, and we were clearly outplayed, but them coming off a bye had a big difference.

They looked very fresh, we looked spent.

And although they haven’t really fired this year, they are a GF side that were a kick away from a premiership. They’re no slouches.

In saying that, it was an awful night, only Bont, Jones, Garcia and Treloar were good, too many players just had awful nights, and they were just plainly too good and all over us in every stat.

Think that draws a line through the season officially for finals too - if we look back to the Richmond game, we had GWS, Swans, Collingwood and Brisbane, all quality sides, so to come away 2-2 from that, one game also unlucky against the Swans, and one stinker tonight, it’s not too bad.

For the rest of the season, I’m just content to bank the wins we can and hopefully we can bounce back next year.
