My ideal team for next year (not necessarily Round 1)

B: BZT - Ratugolea - Burton
HB: Williams - Aliir - Houston
C: Bergman - JHF - Farrell
HF: Georgiades - Marshall - SPP
FF: Rioli - Lord - NEW
R: Sweet - Butters - Rozee
INT: Drew - Jones - Jackson - Sinn

Bring in BZT, Ratugolea, Sweet, and a small forward. Look at trading guys like Wines, DBJ and Duursma.

BZT plays third tall and releases Bergman to the wing.

-I want to see Rozee play 50/50 Forward and mid with wines back inside.( kind of In the Petracca mould)
  • Farrell to wing or Forward.
  • Don't Know what to do with DBJ.
  • Even though Burgoyne looks like a wing/ Half back. Could be worth a shot up Foward.
-If Dixon Plays he needs to be fit enough to be able to ruck. His best minutes are when he plays 10 Min inside.
- I wish we had two Bergmans, he's becoming a Mr fixit or little Goddard like without kick though.

So where do Soldo, Sweet, Ratagolea (and possibly Zerk-Thatcher) sit within your best 22?

B: BZT Ratugolea Jones
HB: Burton Aliir Houston
C: Bergman Wines Farrell
HF: SPP Marshall JHF
F: Georgiades Dixon Rioli
FOLL: Soldo Butters Rozee
INT: Williams Drew Evans Finlayson
SUB: Sinn

Would ideally like to see Lord take Dixon's spot by the end of the season, with Finlayson moving to a roaming Westhoff type role on the wing.

Depth
Clurey, Burgoyne, McKenzie, Sinn, Narkle, Jackson, Evans, McEntee, Lord, Sweet

33 players (maybe more) all capable of playing first team footy next year is a huge win. I think we’re a little short for midfield depth so I expect us to draft smaller types but ultimately adding the talls we did and Georgiadis coming back from injury just allows our smalls across the ground to play their natural positions and be more damaging. Still think we’re 1 small forward short but realistically if Ollie plays his natural position in and under we should be able to cover a small forward through our midfield resting. I’m overly satisfied with how this all worked out. Losing Duursma will be a win ultimately because Farrell and Bergman are far superior players.

Forward line is the toughest part. I've got Byrne-Jones starting ahead of McEntee and Lord starting ahead of Georgiades but you could easily flip those.

Can Farrell really play wing? Feel like we've tried it and he just gets lost. His main weapon is his kick, which is utilised way better from HBF as others can easily get the ball into his hands. It's probably between him and Williams for the 7th defender slot.

However, I am intrigued by the idea of Finlayson on a wing.

The only other options are Burgoyne, Boak and Burton, all of whom also have question marks over their ability to play the role.

They'll pile 15-20 games into Sinn and trade him out because we think all wingmen smell funny

J. Burgoyne, Q. Narkle, M. Georgiades, O. Lord others under consideration, and hopefully Sinn makes his way into that group too. I'm assuming Fantasia will either be delisted and/or injured, which seems a pretty safe bet.

Realistically I'm sure BZT will be picked over McKenzie and spud McEntee will probably be in there somewhere, but the thread title says my best 23, not the club's.

I'm thinking something like this. Drew on the wing but will also play on ball. Finlayson/Marshall/Dixon for R1 but injuries and form will most likely mix that up. Imo Sweet > Soldo but also play Soldo as back up ruck so 5 talls. Orazio starts because he is good enough but probably won't be here next year and he'll have injuries. Tbh anything for McEntee not to start.
