No training yesterday and they were forced to watch the GF , that's good
Just heard Coxy, speak about it on the news. Words to the effect of 'can't learn from it if we don't face it head on'.

Damn ****ing right we can't, that's the sort of thing I have been desperate to hear from the club. Not just a wishy washy, we will learn from it.

A little fire has been lit in the belly again. The swans bucket hat has been dusted off ready to wear on yard duty tomorrow.

I like what we've seen and heard from Coxy so far. Mindful of what Worsfold had to say about him. I was particularly pleased when he said that Warner would be accountable for playing good footy. Love that word. They need to hold themselves and each other accountable. 2012 was a wonderful example.

Make them watch it again next week. And the week after.

Paps said on his podcast today that Emma Murray was part of the GF review on Monday
Well I just hope she was receiving plenty of feedback as well.

Mental preparation, mindset were surely part of her input prior to the GF and we were miles off.

Everybody involved should be under scrutiny.

Players seem to be happy with her input across the season, but there was an interesting article posted by TasSixer previously, which differentiated between a sports psychologist (who seeks to get your mind right) and a performance psychologist who aims to get your performance right.

There is also discussion regarding the mindset (active/passive) and don't prepare differently for a GF and let the game lift you, don't waste energy and invite negative thoughts. In our case, the performance psychologist felt it may have been a case of 'here we go again' ( passive) when we fell behind whereas the Lions concentrated, when the game was level, on tackling harder, running faster etc (active) (in my words the 'controllables').

The question has to be asked, has she delivered in her role?

I'd also add that although she has an undergraduate degree she is not a registered psychologist (and does not claim to be) and I believe she would consider herself primarily a mindfulness coach.

I have also seen a suggestion that she actually addressed the team at HT of the GF.
I don't know if it is true or not but if it is.
However if it is true it may help explain the 'one game won't define us' mantra that was parroted by the players after the match.

Mathew Lloyd commented on vision he saw of Emma addressing the players at halftime of the GF Call me old fashioned, I find that quite bizarre. Halftime on the biggest stage, and you’re staring down the barrel is no time for a pat on the head and a tummy rub. And she’s still on board? Hopefully Emma also makes changes re how she goes about it
