Swans cancelling GF receptions.

Smacks of sore losers - and it is a shame for all the supporters who actually wanted to thank the players for the year they have had.

I don't have an issue with this.

I worked at the post grand final reception for the Swans in 2014 and can confirm that not many turned up in the slightest.

Was a very eerie experience that's for sure

Why not advertise these events as "if we win" rather than cancelling if you don't?
Like the parade you guys planned one year?

Why is this thread worthy! These things cost a lot of money to put on, if no one is going to show can it. I'm sure they will have a day for the fans later, most clubs do.

I'm sure it costs money to cancel too. No matter the club, just state you only intend to hold it should you win.

200 but they were all single seats I believe. We had enough registered that many fans still missed out in the ballot because they wanted to sit with friends etc.

After the Swans first ballot there was "limited" single seats and standing still available. The had a second chance and opened it members who didn't apply for first ballot. I heard there was about 1000 standing only tickets still left after that

These 1000 went to a second shot for the Bulldogs but only to members who missed out on the first ballot. They sold out in minutes.
